  1. Not sure what they are expecting the OW to be, but here are some of the recent multipliers for pre-Thanksgiving movies: Thor Ragnorak: 2.57 Thor Dark World: 2.40 Doctor Strange: 2.73 Catching Fire: 2.68 Fanstastic Beasts: 3.14 Crimes of Grinderwald: 2.56 Dark World was an outlier, but we all know what people think of it. With ANY kind of positive WOM or good reviews, BPWF should have at least a 2.6X multiplier. Predicting a box office run without predicting an OW is just plain stupid. This "should" have an OW of $180 million (whatever "should" means) and "should" at least make $450 million domestic. Again, I don't know what the criteria for "should" is so maybe it's just my own. Sorry, this is the most excited I've been for any movie since TFA. And I am expecting to like it a LOT more.
  2. Can we assume there will be teasers for the trailer and ticket sales all weekend? It's been very hush-hush. I also hope we don't get an onslaught of sexists and misogynists complaining and doing a hate campaign because they feel the movie is too female driven. But I guess those folks have already been preparing their brass knuckles of hatred. I can understand the "recast T'Challa" groups. I get it. It was a tough call but I understand their sentiment. Anyone who loves the character of T'Challa could have a bad taste in their mouth about not recasting. If the RT scores are insanely good, we could have an OW well over $200 million. What happens after that will have a lot to do with WOM and the audience reaction. But there will already be people waiting to review bomb the movie. After all, the first one was an absolute masterpiece and still had audience scores in the 70's because of "them".
  3. Next week we'll see how ticket sales go. The following week, BOP will make their first projections for the movie in their long range forecast. Should be fun!

  5. Probably not. People look at each movie separately and BP is on a different level. People felt that DS2 didn't deliver on what was advertised and thus its bad legs. TLAT was criticized for being TOO goofy, affecting its tone. But look at NWH. Totally different story.
  6. So tickets on sale Monday and the big game between the Rams and 49ers would be the time to drop the trailer. Does Vanity Fair do MCU spreads?
  7. @Menor RebornNot panicking, just wondering why millions aren't lining the streets in constant anticipation, praising the Goddess Bast every day. I mean, that's how it should be! lol
  8. I'm not concerned about the lack of a second trailer. It's probably coming next week (see my last post). No need for worry or concern. What puzzles me more is the complete lack of interest for a second trailer. I'd expect more folks to be chopping at the bit for the new trailer like they did for all 3 SW sequel films and for NWH. With the emotional reaction to the first teaser, I'd think there would be a LOT more buzz and talk about this movie. Like I said, the buzz for NWH was non-stop since the summer of 2021 when people started talking about the title. With BPWF, people stopped talking about it a week after the first teaser.
  9. Anyone think they'll utilize Monday Night Football on ESPN for the official trailer? (like they did for all 3 modern SW movies?) Was thinking that would be this coming week but there's been no word at all (usually some insider somewhere reveals the date). Maybe next Monday (October 3)? Just a few days after the Empire Magazine release? Rams vs 49ers would be a great match-up for maximum audiences.
  10. Hmmm.....I'm guessing it's no coincidence that the D23 footage has been "leaked" now, at the same time they are showing the Empire magazine preview coming this week.
  11. Whoever said there was a 100% chance of a trailer at D23 wasn't wrong. It just wasn't released for the rest of the world lol. I'd say there's a 99.9999% chance of a public official trailer drop next week. Especially with the Empire magazine release.
  12. Animated movies are not must-see-in-theater movies. Disney Plus has become predictable in terms of releases. People know that most movies will be there in 45 days with a few holdouts in 70 days. But animated movies have mostly been close to immediate on D+. The reason Rise of Gru did so well is that it's not guaranteed when it would be streaming. Other streaming platforms are not set in stone in terms of release dates. D+ has always been a range. There is ZERO incentive now to watch a Disney-made (Pixar or WDAS) animated film in the theater. None, zero, zilch. People who would watch them already have D+ anyway so why spend more money? MCU films are different because they are something completely different on the big screen. When was the last time you heard someone say, about an animated film, "you HAVE to see it on the big screen to truly appreciate it"?
  13. Even thought it is a superhero movie and everyone knows it, BP stands on its own in its own fantasy world as if it is its own separate franchise. We all remember the days and weeks leading up to the full-length trailers for the Star Wars movies. There was constant chatter and speculation and heated anticipation for the official full trailer. I was thinking/hoping there would be the same for this one. But no. No talk or discussion or anticipation for the full trailer EVEN THOUGH we know there was one shown at D23. Not even any leaks out there. Did the first teaser satisfy everyone enough? Was it recent enough that nobody feels the need for another one? Is it that, in recent years, we've come to expect full trailers to be released later than usual? Or, is it possible that there isn't that much interest overall?
  14. People aren't that hugely excited about ANY movies right now. Anyway, I expect a trailer next week. This week they had to push Andor and Avatar's re-release. We MIGHT get one dropped on Friday for Avatar's re-release, but I don't think they are really expecting that to make a whole lot of money. They COULD wait until a month before release like they did with No Way Home and drop it in October. But I don't think they will do that for this one. No Way Home was being talked about constantly and they didn't have to really do anything. Not so much the case for BPWF.
  15. Bingo! Well one thing's for sure, this movie is REALLY the talk of the town and may continue to be for a while (until at least BPWF comes out) and then will be the talk of the town leading up to its release. Aladdin live-action couldn't catch a break leading up to its release, despite the great official trailer. Aladdin wearing a shirt, supposed blackfacing dancers, the fuggly first look at Smith's genie, the horrible RT critic scores, etc. Then, upon its release, it couldn't be stopped. Same (for the most part) with TLK.
  16. I've said it a million times. If they want original live action movie ideas, they need to tap some of the WDAS and/or Pixar writers to create live action stories. That's where the originality is.
  17. 100% agree. Since you need an extension to even see the dislikes, they could simply just not report the hate and nobody (or few) would know about it. Well, that's for YT anyway. Don't make it a problem and it won't be a problem. As for box office, not sure about the OW. It is coming out 3 weeks after GOTG3. However, I think it will have great long legs (no pun) UNLESS Disney pulls the plug and puts it onto D+ before Labor Day. My early prediction is between $420-$450 million domestic and about $1.1-$1.3 billion WW.
  18. I have to admit, I don't understand how bots work. Do they just go on repeat to generate a singular response over and over again? Do only those burning with hatred create bots?
  19. People complained about remakes since well before the pandemic and yet Aladdin (despite its 55% RT critic score) got a 96% audience score. Lion King, despite all of the complaints, got an 88% audience score. What has happened since then besides Covid? Did Covid turn the world into a steaming pool of hatred?
