  1. I hope Russia-Ukraine war can quickly ended and outcome favouring Ukraine, that will send every non-USD currency especially EUR into high fly zone.
  2. Completely justified, the 2nd weekend drop was only 52%, a very good hold for a re-release. and this coming is a Columbus weekend.
  3. Is lyle lyle crocodile really coming out in theater? The buzz is almost zero,
  4. Don't judge VFX quality through you tube. The compression make VFX quality by 30% worse.
  5. Even the domestic hold (-54%) is far better than most of the rerelease. In fact, even a new release may not have this hold.
  6. If they pushed Barbarian harder, there is a chance for that movie to open 20m too. Any idea if Barbarian is a horror? The movie doesn't have typical drop like a typical horror genre.
  7. Why they always like to go for this kind of business unfriendly approach when it come to movie? All the uncertainty just adding unnecessary costs and hassle.
  8. If not even JC can handle HFR well, I think that is it for HFR prospect in cinema. DId JC disclose how many % of the movie will be in 48fps? Eitherway, the number of the screen with HFR capability will be very limited. So most moviegoers will still see in the movie in 24fps.
  9. Unlike NWH and DS2 where you can arrange every screen from big to small for 2D, the same luxury is not applicable to Avatar 2 since everyone will go ga-ga on IMAX/PLF/3D, perhaps the level of concentration that we never seen. I would say $1bn final total is more likely than 200m opening.
  10. Avatar gross another €539,810 on Sunday, this is actually up from Saturday. Italian really love Avatar.
  11. Yes, I just don't feel 200m hype for A2. If DS2 can't achieve that, A2 would not be able to. More like a 150m opener to me , and that is with 3D push.
  12. My worry is that 3D reduces brightness. It is very hard to find a theater feature both 4K and HFR capable screen. If there is only either one option available, I would rather go for 4K 3D than a HFR 3D.
  13. I think Avatar re-release provide a warm up session for moviegoers in regard to 3D version. I track 7 theaters around my metropolitan over this weekend. On Thursday OD, the 3D% was only 46% of all seats sold and majority of which are from IMAX 3D. However, by Sunday, this percentage goes up to 72% as more and more regular 3D tickets are sold. We seen people coming out in drove for IMAX/PLF for Avatar 2 would be something that people come out in full force for 3D.
  14. Great to see BT coming to 100m. That labour day weekend hold really change the tide. Still unlikely to pass TLC as TLC late legs was boosted by TGM to 105m.
  15. I do agree the FX is moving very unfavorable against A2 but crazy inflation has sort of moderate the FX losses. Also, I think we will never find a more quiet December like in 2022 in any other year going forward. It is not just a quiet December, but the entire second half, that would highlight A2 as major cinematic event even more.
  16. Ya, the footage they show in the end where a bunch of kids swimming underwater is like nothing we have seen before. The combination of 3D effect and VFX realism will touch a whole generation of VFX artist.
  17. It is actually impressive for Avatar to outgross its entire extended edition run in just one weekend after 13 years of "Nobody cares Avatar!" and "Avatar left no cultural impact!".
  18. Disney must have realised Babarian's potential and expand it to another 550 locations.
  19. Guys, the clip that I got in the end for Avatar 2 is insanely great! Better that what I got in the first 2 hours 40min. The level of detail and realism, created by CGI is unprecedented.
