That is very good numbers. But huge in France should be in the 40s & 50s range.

I was wondering when the huge drop is happening. The movie is OK and mildly entertaining for young fans but it is hardly deserving of a big hit. As for the runaway success of Guardians, Marvel can take the credit for it. Its unusual offbeat tone is a refreshing twist on practically anything Marvel has done, from Iron Man 1 to Captain America 2.

I think you may have under-estimated TA2 & over-estimated SW7. TA2 is coming off TA1 incredible run, CAP2 surprising move & Guardians' excellent affirmation of the Marvel brand. TA2 may reach Avatar-like $700M. SW7, OTOH, is the sixth sequel to the original movie whose fans are all grown up & groaned at the flaws of the prequels. However, this one should open more than $150M and gross at least $500M DOM. Minions sounds like a great concept but w/o Gru, it remains a spin-off and like all spin-off, they are not likely to outgross the originals. The rest sounds plausible to me.

I was hoping TF4 could gross $300M - $310M, or at least $270M - $280M. China makes up for the loss.

They should have cast someone like Elizabeth Winstead in "Make It Happen" Someone with face & look, real body & muscle tones and decent acting skill

GotG, $230M is almost definitely locked.

The winner this weekend is Zoe Saldana. She is an OK actress and now she finds herself in 3 blockbuster franchise: Avatar, Star Trek & Guardians of the Galaxy. Halle Berry has nothing on her.

Guardians is an OK movie. I think the hype is excessive, way too excessive. Wired.com calls it "a wild, hilarious gem.." it is wild and hilarious in spots but it is hardly a gem.

Not a surprise for Lucy. The fact that this movie is earning this much is beguiling to many. Maybe GA really wants that Black Widow movie?

Guardians is a light & fun entertainment but I think it's time for Hollywood to slow down on the onslaught of SH movies coming down the pipeline. Seriously I think there is a big fatigue setting in....

Sony did pretty good with Captain Phillips & 22 Jump St. But I think they are rather ambivalent, indifferent, unchallenged, complacent or - whatever- when it comes to Spider-Man franchise or SH movies. Look at TASM2: GA still wants to see a great Spider-Man movie (hence $700M WW) but everybody agrees the movie is below par.

Breaking Bad is going to the big screen or not?

You have to consider the fact that Guardians is minor blimp in Marvel universe. That midnight number is just astonishing. GA is hungry for light, inconsequential entertainment.

I did say GotG will break out but not this way. A gross close to $170M is a surprise. But this is something else....
