  1. I'm pretty sure WB wanted BvS to hit at least $400m. and that is looking extremely unlikely at this point, so I would call it a disappointment, if not a major one. I loved JJs new Star Trek movies, but sadly I think that star wars has really killed a lot of interest. would be surprised if ST3 managed to cross $200m. Ghostbusters looks horrible, when I was BvS the trailer played and after it was over there was a guy say, "Nope, I do not want to see that" which seemed to sum up the entire audience enthusiasm in the room after the trailer. I honestly think it will miss $100m Now You See Me 2 will not hit $100m The Huntsman Winter's War will be lucky to hit $80m Warcraft may hit $100m. but I have a hard time seeing it go much higher.
  2. Awesome, I'm extending the deadline btw, so you have time, probably extending it for at least a couple weeks, haven't gotten enough submissions yet.
  3. If I ever make it as a big name director my dream is to write and direct the perfect Superman trilogy, in fact I'm buying tons of Superman comics now and preparing to write a script, I already have a pretty good Idea in my head of where I want it to go.
  4. Annihilation sounds really interesting, and it has Alex Garland and Oscar Isaac so I'm already sold, I didn't know anything about it until like today though, so that's why it's not in the poll. Yeah it's really hard to know about indies this far in advance and if they will be any good, but they usually end up filling about half of my top 20, hopefully there will be some good ones in 2017. I actually meant to add that, there are too many franchise films being released next year. but I am interest to see where that one goes.
  5. Wow, I've never won anything like this before, sure it's runner up but gold is gold. man if only that estimate held. thanks boxoffice theory staff this is awesome!
  6. Michael Bay is a better filmmaker than Zack Snyder.
  7. Doesn't Trish die in the end of Allegiant? does she die in the end of this??
  8. My top 10 would be: Star Wars Episode VIII Beauty and the Beast Wonder Woman Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Dunkirk Uncharted The Lego Batman Movie War of the Planet of the Apes Wolverine 3 Thor: Ragnarok
  9. If you are like me, then 2016 is really a tide-you-over year compared to 2017, which has several major tentpoles being released, Will will see the hotly anticipated sequel to Star Wars Episode VII, Star Wars Episode VIII, the long awaited and much over-do big screen debut of the Lasso Wielding warrior of truth, Wonder Woman, the Justice League will finally get their due, Christopher Nolan is back with WWII drama Dunkirk, on the Marvel Spectrum we are getting Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, the first shared universe Spider-Man film and Thor Ragnarok, which will include Mark Ruffalo in the cast as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Jack Sparrow is back with Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, we will see the live action rendition of one of the most Beloved animations of all time Beauty and the Beast. and on the animated front we got The Lego Batman Movie, Ninjago(also lego), Despicable Me 3, Captain Underpants, Cars 3, Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas, My Little Pony, The Croods 2 and of course Pixar's Coco. also releasing, War of the Planet of the Apes, Pitch Perfect 3, the Great Wall, Kingsman 2, Uncharted (maybe..), Transformers 5, Fast 8, World War Z 2, Bad Boys 3, Kong: Skull Island, Ghost in the Shell, The Dark Tower, Andy Serkis' Jungle book movie; The Jungle Book: Origins. and the last time Hugh Jackman Dawns the claws that made him so famous in Wolverine 3, (possibly rated R and it has been heavily hinted at that it is an adaption of Old Man Logan) and many more! wow it really is a huge year, which ones are you most excited for?
  10. I really wish George Miller's Justice League would have been made, I have a feeling it would have been way better than the one we are going to get.
  11. Oh I agree, Snyder may got some good visual shots in his movies, but he's a terrible story-teller. I honestly don't know how he was able to get behind such huge projects, at the very least they need to hire a co-director for JL, but I have a feeling Sydner wouldn't work with a co-director. and really the darker tone wasn't the problem.. the duller tone was. and mistreatment of the characters, especially Superman, they should not have a Batman fan helm a Superman film, unless he is willing to but his bias aside and let Superman be Superman. which clearly Snyder is not.
  12. I was just thinking remember when, Green Lantern came out it was actually supposed to be the launching pad of the DCCU. the funny thing is it's reviews are not really that much worse than BvS. but of course it didn't make any money. I mean BvS writing is kind of a mess, but there were way too many great things in it for critics to hate on it as much as GL, which I actually didn't hate, and if they got the right writing team behind it could have even been salvaged imo. but still a lot worse quality wise then BvS, I almost think part of (don't get me wrong to an extent the criticisms warranted) the reason it is getting so much negativity is because of the polar-opposite tone of it from the MCU, and it gave them whiplash.
  13. That list is cool looking, but it has some pretty rigorous mistakes in it. for one thing under the Aquaman section, there is a picture of Michael Rosenbaum, (who played Lex Luther in Smallville) listed as Scott Rummell, and doesn't list Alan Ritchson at all, who played Aquaman in Smallville. it also lists Camren Bicondova as being in a movie, but she plays Catwoman in the Gotham TV show.
  14. Yeah I'm going to at this point, I was really hoping for 20 submissions though. I don't know if I can have a sig with this kind of account.. of course that may change if I win the BvS opening weekend contest I'll ask @Telemachos if I can up it in the main forums for a bit too.
  15. So I've gotten 5 lists so far.. I could bump the deadline again. but there seems to be a serious lack of interest.. what should I do? come on guys don't you remember how fun the last countdown was?
  16. January: Jan 4 - Star Wars: The Force Awakens A+ Jan 8 - The Revenant A+ February: Feb 1 - Kung Fu Panda 3 A- Feb 10 - Pride and Prejudice and Zombies B+ Feb 19 - Risen A March: Mar 5 - Zootopia A Mar 12 - 10 Cloverfield Lane A+ Mar 24 - Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice B or B+ (my thoughts have ranged from an A- to a C since I've seen it that's Zynder for ya)
  17. A+ 10 Cloverfield Lane A Zootopia Risen A- Kung Fu Panda 3 B+/B Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
  18. holy shit, BvS early weekend estimate is $169.5, closer to my $171m prediction than anyone. I may actually win the contest!
  19. I really liked Holly Hunter's character, she was a smart politician. well for the most part. not smart enough to foresee her demise. I loved the Grandma's Peach tidbit in there too, kind of feel like that was Chris Terrio behind that.
  20. They killed Superman way too early, we didn't get to see the more confident character of Superman or even get to love him yet imo and they killed him.. and from the looks of it they, are setting up the Injustice Storyline, which is a great story, but it should be like Justice League 3.. not this before we even have the regular Justice League set up! Also becuase Superman wasn't fully established, has death had way less impact than it should have, I liked it at first, because I was like yay! that's the superman I know and love who will sacrifice anything for the good of mankind, but becuase he wasn't fully developed I only got choked up at bit, Superman is very favorite superhero ever. you kill him and I should be balling and i wasn't, even though that scene at had impact, and some emotion it was nearly as much as it should have or could have been.
  21. This movie is definitely going to be more front loaded than AoU. I think it may be the most front loaded movie ever to open to $160m+. it is not a crowd pleaser, there was a pretty big audience, and I was setting right above a group of about 10 pretty hardcore fanboys and they did not seem thrilled with it by the end, nor did the theater, I won't be surprised if this opens to $170m and closes at $375m... maybe even less.
  22. Captain America: Civil War Beauty and the Beast Star Wars: Rogue One Jason Bourne X-Men: Apocalypse The Lego Batman Movie Suicide Squad Star Trek beyond The Legend of Tarzan The Jungle Book
