So JW is doing great in Japan as well. I love it! MI5 doesn't do too bad either. I hope JW could do as well as your projection but then I remember how AOU dropped big after such a great opening.... -

It needs to do better than breaking out in Japan to get that 1b OS so it had less than 10% chance to start with. Even their big local releases have trouble hitting that $60m number.

I still think $1b OS is too far away. What about passing DH2 OS number ($960m)? How likely is that?

You know, there're people who travelled the world to see the same band 20+ times per year? Seeing the same movie 10+times is nothing. It's called passion.

No actual numbers.. people have to find something to do while waiting, I guess.. People thought JW wasn't getting good WOM hence it wouldn't pass TA even though it broke the OW record. I don't know if he started it but I actually believed it for a while.

I agree with all of your analysis but as a paid customer I prefer the movie that doesn't get the basics right but I enjoy so much to the movie that gets everything right but manages to bore me. Sorry but to me I watch movies to be entertained. You can pick every movie apart and tell me which movie gets what right and what wrong til the cows come home but it's the sum of all things that really matters.

I don't hate it. I liked it enough to buy the movie 3 times, DVD, BR and BR-3D. I just couldn't put it that high on my list because there's nothing in the movie that I particularly cared for.

Is that a question? If it is then the answer is a big YES. None of the characters in Avatar are interesting. TA has bunch of likable characters and JW's lead characters are at least fun to watch.

That's true. Characters growth means nothing if that character isn't that interesting to start with. And that's why Avatar never clicked with me, Jake was such a boring character that following his journey in Avatar was like watching paint dry in an art gallery. Titatic>TA>JW>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Avatar.

Haven't seen a lot of movies this year, have you? It's funny that the same people who criticised JW for it's weak characters gave Mad Max the high praise in that category when in fact it's the only flaw in that damn movie. Mad Max's actions and world-building kicked all major asses but apart from Nux who happened to be just a supporting character the other characters were either underdeveloped or uninteresting. I'll take Clair over Furiosa every day of the week.

I don't know how well SS is going to do next year but SS first teaser has created more hype than Ant-Man ever had in it's entire marketing campaign.

Ant-Man is going to be profitable and it's sequel is going to make more money. The question is, do we need another Ant-Man movie even though we're going to see the character any way in CW and IW1 & 2? I'd rather have Marvel made sequels to more interesting characters (IM4 is a no for me too).

The movie looked gorgeous in HD, I'd rather have Brave in my collection than The Town and Unforgiven (which I bought and have only watched once.. ).
