  1. Considering that would represent a huge improvement for the U.S., I highly doubt it.
  2. Both my mom and one of my sisters are legitimately obsessed with that film. Still haven't seen it.
  3. In all seriousness, people need to start losing their jobs over at Deadline, THR, Variety, etc. Where the hell were they pulling numbers like 30m today and 130m+ for 4 days from? It literally had to be out of their asses.
  4. They're all fantastic, and I understand why some are preferring Audition. However, I feel it works best in the expository context of the film. Whereas CoS works a little better as a fully realized song and I think it's the best representation of the film as well.
  5. This is definitely the best live action musical since Moulin Rouge! Emma Stone is just enchanting. I've known her potential charm knows no bounds since first noticing her in Superbad - and this was that unbound performance I've been waiting for from her all these years. She's so much better suited to this kind of role than when she tries to be angst-y and tortured ala Birdman. The movie glides along on air, making the abrupt fall from cloud nine all the more affecting. Most of all, I'm blown away by this music. I wouldn't toss this word around lightly about a modern musical, but "timeless" kept coming to mind to describe the songs. "City of Stars" is just marvelous. That simple melody is hauntingly wondrous and captures the essence of the film spectacularly. As much as I stan for Moana's songs, CoS deserves to win. As much as I loved Portman, Stone deserves to win. And the movie deserves to win BP more than any other musical in decades.
  6. I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet. Though I'd bet on it also being a sequel, where Kevin is the parent now that leaves his kid home alone.
  7. Oh lord, I don't like this one bit. Why can't everyone just shut up on commenting to the media until they know the facts are the facts?
  8. I guess I just assumed in a situation like this they would show at least a little tact. My mistake.
  9. Yeah, I just looked it up and critical condition includes a state of any severe complications (i.e. most certainly brain damage). So yep, TMZ are scum.
  10. I thought of that too, however isn't that still referred to as a critical condition if there's severe brain damage? I'm hoping she's OK and TMZ were just being sensationalist assholes. Not exactly unlike them.
  11. Btw, assuming Todd Fisher's comment is (hopefully) true, then I'm calling TMZ out at that despicably sensationalist report on her having no pulse for 15 minutes upon landing. There's not even a chance that's true if she's in stable condition now. Shame on them.
  12. Well...if it did actually do that today, then maybe the next 3 day's holds are going to be all out of whack as well for it? As you say, beating TFA's first monday would have to be impossible.
  13. I kinda consider TFA's first Monday the most insane thing I've ever seen at the box office, just because it should have been entirely impossible for it to hold like that off of a 60m Sunday and a non-Holiday Monday to boot. However, R1 doing 30m today would almost rival that feat. The bile is building.
  14. If that is correct, then R1 has absurdly phenomenal WOM. Meanwhile, at my place...
  15. There would be no logical explanation for that jump, but I'm not sure how it could have been a typo either. Not like you can accidentally type 30 very easily if you're meaning to put 20 something.
  16. 30m is insane for Friday. Some of your guy's 600 predictions could stand a chance with that number.
  17. I would assume that's what this update means right, could I be interpreting it wrong? 2:46 PM PT -- We're told when the plane landed paramedics worked on Carrie for 15 minutes with CPR before they were able to get a pulse. She's currently at UCLA Medical Center on a ventilator.
  18. I don't want this to be another Bobbi Kristina, where the poor girl was kept in a vegetative state for months while the media had a field day. If she's in that condition, I hope she manages to somehow pass soon on her own. No one deserves to live like that, and in the long run I think it's harder for the family too.
