  1. Flabbergasted by what exactly? It's doing just as most of us expected. I'm one of the biggest Ringers and even I was predicting low 70's for OW, as were many other level headed fans.
  2. Lol. I've given up on attempting the "correct" pronunciation of his name and reverted to just calling him 'Smog' like I always did.
  3. Tracking in inflation is boring as hell. Very few records can ever be broken then. Sure Gone With the Wind could gross equivalent to well over a billion domestically, movies cost like a quarter back then and there were like a dozen releases a year. That's why box office isn't tracked in tickets. It really isn't a fair comparison to decades ago, or even a decade ago. The industry always changes.
  4. Well obviously I'm well aware of inflation, but that's not how we track box office. The point is, unadjusted no trilogy has ever crossed $3b in gross. But that looks to change next year.
  5. I love how this trilogy is likely gonna gross $3b+ WW and some of the haters wanna try to act like that's not impressive. Will be the first trilogy ever to hit a gross of $3 billion if it does, even LOTR didn't do it.
  6. So stoked it ended up on the high end of RTH's range! With a 75m-ish OW it may not fall too short of AUJ in the long run. If you take out the extra $4m AUJ made at midnight, it did practically identical OD business.
  7. No way it will only get 220m DOM though, unless it's opening to like 55m. Again, Holiday legs are in effect. There's no reason it shouldn't hit 250 with a mid-high 60's OW. From there it would need like a 4% OS increase to hit 1b. Maybe that won't happen, but it would be highly unusual as a blockbuster sequel to not increase OS at least a little.
  8. I would love to see TABA only carry like a 130m runtime, but I know the chances of that are pretty much zero. A normal runtime though could be a great incentive to gain back people turned off by The Hobbit movies' lengths.
  9. Sequels very rarely decrease OS these days. So unless this does or stays totally flat OS, then 1b is pretty safe.
  10. Godzilla is gaining a shit ton of hype since that trailer released. And more than just internet hype too. I'm smelling a big breakout.
  11. Uh, unless DOS only does like 220 DOM, it's pretty safely locked for 1B.
  12. It wasn't. It was done because PJ can't ever edit stuff he wants in his movies out. With how huge the LOTR trilogy was, the man could shit $20's for the rest of his life and still be rich. He doesn't need the money, rather he's obsessed with cramming everything he wants into this adaptation.
  13. Apparently CF taught a whopping total of no one here a lesson about jumping to quick conclusions with OWs. This is the Holiday people, if a movie is liked it will have great legs. AUJ got a 3.6x multi, despite the haters here claiming it was so disliked. Considering DOS seems to be near unanimously preferred to AUJ so far, and has a smaller opening, a multi of 3.8x+ should follow.
  14. I was afraid DOS was gonna miss 70m. The hype wasn't there, even I knew it. Hoping it plays less Friday frontloaded than AUJ over the weekend though. If it does it could still hit 70+. Then from there it will be up to WOM to save it. Not gonna beat AUJ now though.
  15. Man, with Minions and Dinosaur both out of 2014, it's looking to be a really crap year overall for animation at the box office. On the positive side, even more reason for Dragon 2 to break out huge. 400 really could be a possibility, because of the complete lack of competition.
  16. Lol at all the "comedy" BP noms being primarily dramas with some comedic elements. They totally cheated in that category this year. They should just do 10 BPs like the Oscars.
  17. It's also an entirely different sport on different parts of Earth.
  18. I feel ya .Ever since Manning the Broncos are all anyone wants to talk about around here. I enjoy watching a good game from time to time, but never been something I can watch several times a week without getting bored. And all the constant chatter about it just gets so old.
  19. Damn. At least they're advertising truth though. I remember at the elementary school I went to we got bombarded nearly every year with vids of those people who have the tracheotomies and robotic voices from smoking too much. They pretty much seared those images into us.
  20. Wow, don't strain yourself with all these highly detailed number reports Nikki.
  21. The fact that Star Wars Episode VII is actually happening before Avatar 2 is pretty funny.
