  4. Looks like Standon will be running out of excuses. Poor opening we can blame the lame marketing. But bad legs?
  5. $100m opening week for Avatar 2 is basically locked. TF3 almost did two thirds of that in 2011. Avatar 2 will have a solid shot at 150m if it opens on Monday. But of cause, I wont go as far as saying it will do $1 billion.
  6. $1 billiona in China? Let's not get ahead of ourselves.China is an exploding market, but it's also an immature market. When mega-films like Avatar and TF3 came, they took over two thirds of the screens, and they dominated over weeks because of the lack of the competition. The volume of the market is growing fast, but it's also becoming more open and mature, and if a few years later we have like 10 times more screens, we're not gonna see a film taking over half of the screens and facing little competition. It's gonna be a lot of competition, and a lot of options for the audience. This is not saying films like Avatar 2 and TF4 won't make monstrous performance. We just need to understand China is not gonna maintain the growing speed when the market is several times bigger and more open, and their boxoffice will not perform in the way the previous films broke out.
  7. WOW it's bombing ih the US, but doing great business OS? Talking about day-and-night difference.
  8. Spielberg is gonna directing a film about himself? WTH?? That's kinda lame if you ask me.
  9. Because there are stuff on youtube that the goverment dont want the people to see.
  10. Youtube is blocked in China by the government. We have proxy softwares to get the access, but only a limited amount of internet users know them.
  11. WTF?? Biggest OD record in Russia? That's kinda weird.
  12. Considering all the poor tracking, this is actually a surprisely good number for JC LOL
  13. Actually there are about 12 people that have walked on the moon.BTW, I think Cameron will find a way to come back alive from the Mariana Trench no matter what. He and the audience have unfinished business.
  14. Holy crap Zanuck/Brown got 41%??? The studio was that stupid to that kind of deal?
  15. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-17289535 James Cameron close to diving to deepest ocean By Rebecca Morelle Science reporter, BBC News James Cameron has just completed an 8km dive in preparation for his plunge to the bottom of the Mariana TrenchContinue reading the main story Related Stories [*]Race to the bottom of the ocean [*]Scientific riches in deepest ocean [*]Oceans' deepest depth re-measured Director James Cameron has said that he is close to diving 11km (seven miles) down to the deepest part of the ocean, the Mariana Trench in the western Pacific. He has just successfully completed a test-dive 8km (five miles) down off the coast of Papua New Guinea. He now hopes to reach the world's deepest point in his one-man submersible in the coming weeks. Only two people have been to the bottom of the Mariana Trench, back in 1960. Mr Cameron said: "The deep trenches are the last unexplored frontier on our planet, with scientific riches enough to fill 100 years of exploration." The director has long been passionate about the oceans, and used submersibles while working on Titanic to film the wreck of the doomed liner deep underwater. Solo dive The sub is designed for one person and is fitted with 3D cameras Mr Cameron's sub is called the Deepsea Challenge, and was built by an Australian team of engineers. It fits just one person, which will be the director himself. It is kitted out with cameras, including a small stereoscopic camera that can withstand the 1,000 atmospheres of pressure that are found 11km beneath the waves. Mr Cameron said that he plans to spend six hours exploring the bottom of the trench, and would be gathering footage for a 3D documentary based on the dive. He will also be collecting samples for the scientific community. He said: "Our goal is to build a scientific legacy for generations to come. "It's also to inspire people across the globe to celebrate exploration and to explore with us online and through the media we produce." The expedition is backed by National Geographic and Rolex.
  16. The guy is perfectionist. He waited 12 years on Avatar. He's not gonna rush anything on the sequels. BTW, just found a hilarious comment on another forum on this deep-diving trip. All I can think of is the Abyss, and Cameron down there typing this out: "Knew this was a one way ticket, but you know I had to come."
  17. Why would he care about having this out by 2015 in the first place? He's James Cameron. He doesnt meet the deadline. The deadline meets him.
  18. 5% profit still means 20m right? That's still a truck load of money. Adjusted for inflation it's like today's 100m.
  19. This is one heck of a thread. Incredible job Bluebomb.Poor for JC. It probably means mainland China wont be very interested either. It's doomed.
  20. On the other hand, being on TV endless times also suggests it's still very popular, which might lead to a great rerelease run. Who knows.Right now I'm predicting 160m.
