  1. Xmen movies have always been front loaded. Anyway will try to look at other movies released in July for further analysis.
  2. I have analyzed that aspect many times. But I did not see the evidence of the "Missing Auds" being absorbed subsequent to first weekend. If anybody else has something halfway concrete about the impact of that, I would love to see that. The impact of death like Ledger's was real, even though it is hard to quantify it to a ballpark number. The same with FF7. WW gross went to 1516 up from 788 for FF6.
  3. Under any circumstance as it existed. Different circumstances could change the equation. For ex., If TDKR was the greatest movie in history, then it may have easily surpassed TA. But that circumstance did not exist.
  4. I'm not going to use 3d since it did not have 3D and was so by choice. It was never going to get that extra $$$$ for 3D. It is like saying that KFP3 lost about $75M+ by releasing on the wrong weekend in China. Too bad, it is what it is. It was DW's choice to release that weekend. For all wanting to use ticket sales to bolster TDK/TDKR, then Shrek 2 sold more tickets than any movie since 2000 barring TFA. Yes more than Avatar, TA, SM and TDK.
  5. I don't see any way, it could have made an additional $48M. The impact of the shooting is just pure conjecture. The kind of loss people are speculating never could have happened given that TDKR never really had out of the world drops after the first weekend to indicate that the missing auds from first weekend audience watched TDKR later down the line.
  6. But it did not gross $190M, so no point in bringing it up unless you want to reduce the additional grosses reaped by TDK due to Heath Ledger for the sake of fairness.
  7. TDK was helped by Heath Ledger's death. Refer to FF7 and Paul Walker's impact. So..... But TDKR was never going to come close to The Avengers under any circumstance other than The Avengers being made by Zack Snyder. It is just some people's wet dream and nothing more.
  8. Great call, bud. I was hoping the people who were arguing with me would get that. Avengers had great reviews compared to the paid plants hyping BvS sky high and eventually ending with a poor critical reception. But again poor critical reception did not stop POTC 2, POTC 3, TF 2, 3 and 4 from being huge hits. I happen to like TF movies btw.
  9. You mean to say, the first time pairing of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman was a non event. Hmmmm... Yet TDKR, sequel to the top 20 movie of all-time and loved by all, was clobbered by The Avengers in 2012. What did Avengers have? First time pairing of several second tier super heroes, barring Iron Man who had moved to top tier due to RDJ.
  10. The presales for Star wars included sales up to Christmas day, so hard to quantify Preview number since no percentage was given. Anyway, as I had indicated yesterday in another thread, just like TF 2 and 3, BvS was going to make money. I'm surprised with hyped pre sales and trinity factor (?), BvS failed to beat TDKRs unadjusted gross.
  11. BVS fans were reporting (based on deadline) that the movie had $15M in presales for previews as of 2 weeks prior to release. Then over the last 2 weeks including walk ups on Thursday it did $12M. It does not sound like a great deal to me. Like I said earlier, it is neither good nor bad.
  12. My prediction was 171M OW. It will fall around there. If anybody is pissed due to BvS performance it is probably people like you.
  13. True. The greatest preview gross ever. Given the hype for the Trinity (whatever) all this time and not even matching TDKR after 4 years of inflation and 3D, please........
  14. Not good , Not bad number for BvS. Just mediocre. The real winner in the previews MBFGW2. Wow. how did it gross $1M in previews?
  15. TFA must have just missed the top ten. What is weekend gross and the overall total up to?
  16. Fantastic news. Indy one more time with Ford and Spielberg. This certainly made my day.
  17. Watched it in IMAX last night, though I had watched it before. Overly long and boring. The shots linger too long. One gets tired of longlasting shots of the moon etc. Leo is good but has been way better in several other movies. Nothing else impressed me other than the beautiful locales and excellent cinematography. Glad this did not win best picture. C
  18. FINAL FOUR (Deadline March 6) Raiders of the Lost Ark vs. Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back The Godfather vs. The Lion King
  19. ELITE EIGHT (Deadline February 27) Raiders of the Lost Ark vs. Back to the Future Star Wars IV: A New Hope vs. The Godfather The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King vs. The Lion King Jaws vs. Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back
  20. Casino Royale is way better than Skyfall. I watch it every time it comes on TV. I cannot bring myself to watch Skyfall even for a few minutes.
  21. Thanks, Fake. Btw, what is the total cost of Mermaid (prod+marketing)? Any idea about the local movie revenue sharing in China and mermaid's overseas prospects?
