  1. I have been reading about Animal World for some weeks. What can we expect from it?
  2. Weekend June, 15th-17th: Every holdover drops over 50%. World Cup has hit really hard.
  3. Sure, but being a good result, taking into account the very good reception of the first part, one could have expected a higher opening/total. That's all.
  4. Because although it started slower (the $99m OW figure is for 5-day opening), it had great legs. The total for JW2 is likely to be lower than for JW. Today, films are more frontloaded than 3 years ago.
  5. Weekend 15th-17th (provisional): 1. Jurassic World 2: €2.8m (-60%) 2. I feel pretty: €0.2m (NEW) 3. Solo: €0.2m (-61%) 4. Deadpool 2: €0.2m (-50%) 5. Campeones: €0.2m (-47%) World Cup is hitting hard. Audiences of every match, not only Spain's matches, are being quite high.
  6. That is my real concern. If it does more or less in box office is secondary to me.
  7. In my case, I try to be realistic, that's all. I have suffered many disapointments in the past being too optimistic. I love Pixar and I wish China could give us bigger numbers, but past say that they do not usually love this kind of films. Maybe the SH factor can be positive and this jumps like Coco did, but for the moment I prefer to be prudent.
  8. Titanic did it with prices half than today, without the expansion of Asia and Latin America and without 3D (at least the 1.8b of the orignal run). I get the point of competition and internet, but not with such a huge difference. Even Avatar pales in comparison in terms of attendance.
  9. I am sorry, but to compare Titanic and Infinity War runs with unadjusted dollars is absurd. Titanic is the biggest run ever BY FAR. There is not contest about that, even with the bigger competition. What Titanic did was surreal.
  10. Maybe the SH factor can make it to do bigger numbers than usual Pixar flicks, but I would no expect something extraordinary. Coco was a very special case.
  11. @JamesCameronScholar 8,000?? That is a lot I have an excel where I have been listing what I see and what I want to see, with some data like year or director to know which year or director I see more. I take note about the date of each viewing too. I am at 850 different films right now accounted, but I have seen way more films before I started doing this (2014). How many in my whole life? I do not know. Maybe 1,500-2,000. It is hard to know.
  12. Just divide the total in Yuan by 6.40 (today ER) and you will get the dollar amount.
  13. You are right. If all numbers were taken the same day, cumes are by May 13th. At the end of that weekend IW was at those €17.7m in Spain.
  14. Weekend 8th-10th (provisional): 1. Jurassic World 2: €6.8m (3-day) - €8.0m (4-day) 2. Solo: €0.5m (-62%) 3. Deadpool 2: €0.4m (-53%) 4. Campeones: €0.3m (-40%) 5. Sherlock Gnomes: €0.2m (-36%)
  15. I have found some data about 6 biggest European markets (source: comScore): 2018 Gross to date: UK: €591.9m France: €517.2m Germany: €322.2m Russia: €301.6m Italy: €243.0m Spain: €215.6m Biggest film by country in 2018 until now: UK - Infinity War - €71.3m France - Les Tuche 3 - €36.5m Germany - Infinity War - €31.4m Russia - Dvizhenie Vverkh - €36.0m Italy - Infinity War - €17.5m Spain - Infinity War - €17.7m Biggest film in Europe in 2018 is Infinity War with €322m
  16. If it drops the same than The Lost World relative to first film, JW2 would do $418m DOM. I think about that amount could be the target.
  17. Thank you very much This gives a better sight of the real increase of the market.
  18. Friendlies matches. Nothing relevant. Serious things come on Thursday...
  19. Weekend June, 1st-3rd As I said with provisional figures, soft drops given we came from Champions League weekend. Campeones has even increased (+5%). It still ranks 3rd after 9 weeks. Just Avatar (14 weeks) and Ocho apellidos vascos (12 weeks) were more weekends in top 3 (there is not data available for Titanic, though, which probably did even better). Infinity War already ranks #46 of all time. Campeones ranks #89. As a curiosity, "2001: A space odyssey" has been re-released. Total data in chart are from this re-release, but it had already grossed €1,922,287 and sold 2,918,480 admissions since its original release.
  20. I have a problem with Bayona: he is a bit tricky overusing the music to highlight emotions. It is undoubtable that "A monster..." is very emotional and a very good film. But for that reason, maybe it did not need so intense music to make people cry. But JW2 is a different style of film. He did a great job in The Impossible with a "limited" budget ($45m). I am curious what is he able to do with a big budget. BTW, I never remember that Spain put money on "El laberinto del fauno" (in fact, the same TV channel that financed previous Bayona's films). I always tend to think it is only from Mexico (Del Toro), when nearly the whole cast come from Spain.
