  1. Not so surprising at the end. It will make a good OW, but with toxic WoM it will drop like a rock.
  2. Although BP is the main claim of the CBO right now, just to notice that both Detective Chinatown 2 and Operation Red Sea have already reached $500m (3.2b Yuan).

  4. But even a 8.0 rating is low. Monster Hunt 2 has 8.1 and it has dropped quickly. If I am not wrong, to have good WoM it is needed, at very least, a high 8 rating in Maoyan.
  5. Yes, it was one of the leggiest films ever. China loved it.
  6. Yes, Black Panther. It seems it can be way bigger than initially expected.
  7. I agree with @The Mad Panda Recent films have the advantage of the emotion of fans, even more in a place like this, where many people are many times blinded with their favorite sagas (myself included). Right now there is a feeling of absolute love to Black Panther, and the hype around Infinity War can make to include it on the list. I do not say that those are or will be superb films, but I think that the time perspective is important to make this kind of lists. Civil War was over Winter Soldier in the last list. We will check this year if Civil War is one of the best films ever or if initial emotion has gone. I would bet on Winter Soldier finishing in a better place than Civil War.
  8. My list is changing since last time too. I have watched many new films and rewatched some that maybe I had overrated in the past. I will elaborate my list as soon as possible.
  9. IMO, that is (nearly) locked. I think the target is already to outgross Avengers adjusted ($705m).
  10. If China delivers a good run, it has a shot to enter in the top 10 WW. Incredible.
  11. If I am not wrong, the 3rd weekend of main CNY releases are: Operation Red Sea: $61.9m Detective Chinatown 2: $32.6m Monster Hunt 2: $8.0m
  12. WTF, I have just seen it has a 100% in Rotten Tomatoes. There are just 12 reviews, but still remarkable. Maybe I will see it...
  13. I do not agree. I think that La la land+The Help+Birdman (Stone) are way better films than Hunger Games+Silver Linings Playbook+American Hustle (Lawrence), taking their more relevant roles. Said this, I agree that to call them the best actresses of their generation is a bit misleading.
  14. That is "Verónica", isn't it? I have not seen it. I do not like horror films. But I have heard that some people have had to stop watching it. Extremely scary.
  15. Maoyan is projecting right now $610m for Operation Red Sea and $545m for Detective Chinatown 2, but I do not know if they will go so high since competition should start to cut their late legs (Black Panther comes next week and there is an Indian film with a superb grade which should start to take screens).
  16. I agree DOM, but I think it can go higher OS. Probably over the billion.
  17. The first Avengers was the film which exploded in China with $86m. It ranked #7 in 2012. To compare, the last year 7th in the ranking was Transformers 5, with $230m. Before Avengers, MCU was pretty anecdotical in China (and I guess that it happened in the same way in the rest of Asia).
  18. No idea. Logic say that it should be big but, that big? who knows
