Last of the Mohicans
Spidey Freak replied to baumer's topic in Review That Movie! (Spoilers Allowed)
Fun Fact: Jodhi May, the actress who played poor Alice Munro, was Maggy the Frog (the witch who predicts Young Cersei's fate) in this year's season premier scene of Game of Thrones. -
Yeah, and it was a smart decision to make Judy Hopps the focus of the sloth trailer. WDAS needs to show their loyal fanbase of little girls that the movie will appeal to them too. If this awesome marketing keeps up, then I could see it increasing from BH6, or at least drop by just an insignificant amount.

As much as it would thrill me to have Larson WIN already, I think the chances of Blanchett winning again is more. Think some voters may hesitate to give it to another mid-20's gorgeous blonde actress in a span of just four years.

Yup, I'd say it's The Little Mermaid of the this new WDAS Revival (interestingly, TLM was another movie in development at the studio since Walt's time). Also, if the Frozen sisters are counted as their own brand, then Rapunzel is still the character generating the second highest merchandising revenue just after Cinderella for the Disney Princess brand. Disney continues to make big $$ from the Tangled IP thanks to Rapunzel products and before Frozen, Rapunzel and Finn were the most popular meet and greet characters at all the amusement parks. Disney wants to keep the Tangled brand in the public eye so they have greenlit the upcoming 2D tv show.

Exactly. The casual fans (mostly belonging to the quadrants not targeted by Spectre, MJ2 and TGD respectively) aren't all that willing to check the movies out because they are waiting for the universe-binding colossus on its way. Also, the fact that all three of these movies got meh reviews didn't help their case either.

IO also seemed way more little girl-leaning than this though. As we've seen post-Frozen, that's the really lucrative demographic because if they connect to something, they REALLY get WOM going as they aren't as targeted as little boys. So the few quality movies that do serve them first and foremost enjoy far more concentrated benefits.

I'm sure it isn't a critical bomb but I think Pixar suspects it will be unfavorably compared to Inside Out. If it was tracking ahead of IO, then "Good, but not Inside Out good" reviews may affect the trend. So I guess Pixar is not lifting the embargo until the last minute to ensure the biggest opening possible.

Go in with reduced expectations and you may actually be surprised. I'm more excited for Sanjay's Super Team anyway.

This is a very unique case. The two movies with the Games did exceptionally well and the two movies based on the book without the Games decreased. In a very weird way, the spectacle and thrill of the actual "Hunger Games" were the franchise's bigger pulls and the actual nitty gritty (war, revolution) weren't as appealing. In short, moviegoing audiences are like the shallow Capitol citizens and easily distracted masses.

Was it mentioned that Bolt was specifically critiquing the Disney Channel? It just seemed to me that it was a general (and mild) critical look at the entertainment industry and its treatment of living beings as replaceable commodities (which... is also true of almost every other industry so it is not really saying much).
