  1. Variety has an interesting read about how studio tactics of pushing roles like Mara's and Vikander's, which are co-leads, in the supporting category, robs the chances of actual supporting/character roles. It is perfectly understandable why the studios are doing it, especially in the case of Vikander, but that writer does make great points. Someone like Sarah Paulson, who may find it harder to get the same opportunities and roles as Mara and Vikander, may unfortunately and unfairly lose out on a nom in a category meant for a role like hers to co-leads. Lol these campaign politics.
  2. I would actually add Inside Out to that list too, unpopular even if that opinion may be. I think it has sequel potential, or at least more so than most Pixar movies. Puberty is a pretty risqué theme to handle for mainstream Western animation but if anyone could pull it off gracefully, while tugging at the heartstrings simultaneously, it is Docter.
  3. Every single syllable of this. Though I'm slightly intrigued about TS4 focusing on Bo Pee- fuck, who am I trying to kid. Kill it with fire.
  4. I think most people expected Pixar to be like WDAS and Ghibli, i.e. keep producing original movies for decades. So it was jarring for them when they saw the new slate. But Pixar never claimed it was WDAS or Ghibli. They sowed the seeds of original ideas in one phase, and now are entering the harvest phase where the ideas have grown into franchises. That doesn't automatically make them Dreamworks, though yeah, the concern is reasonable considering MU and Cars 2. Hopefully Dory changes all of that.
  5. They are probably just trolling you coz you stanned for Minions over IO (and Frozen). As they should out of principle.
  6. This could be more slapstick-y than Wall-E so I think it will be more mainstream friendly despite the same lack of dialogues.
  7. ...yikes, just remembered that the writer prepared the Wonder Woman script!
  8. ROFL looks like the poor man's Jem but with a majority of boy bander wannabes. Btw, you should check out the new Jem and the Holograms comic if you aren't already reading it. A much better modernization of the franchise without losing any of its fundamental elements.
  9. ROFL to think that the original American show was even worse as not only was the lone African-American the Black Ranger but the lone Asian-American was actually the Yellow Ranger.
  10. The only show of those 11 that I watched is ranked number 1.
  11. I don't think they will have Sunspot this early as they just utilized him in Days of Future Past. Unless this is a prequel of sorts to that movie? Ugh, the X-movie continuity and timeline really confuse me. Yeah, I agree that the essential and safest choice is the original line-up: Dani Moonstar, Cannonball, Karma, Sunspot and Wolfsbane. Though I could swap Wolfsbane for Magik as the latter is a superior character and has better powers. Plus, her older bro is in Deadpool and was in three previous X-Films. Wouldn't be too surprised though if this is an immediate sequel to Apocalypse and the line-up will be the youngsters from that film: Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, Angel, Nightcrawler and Jubilee. Except for Jean, it's not like these characters got a whole load of attention in the other films unlike Wolverine, Xavier, Magneto and Mystique, so I'd be cool if they went in that direction too. Really like most of the actors playing those kids and I think they have the talent and gravitas amongst themselves to carry off an entire film without relying on the seniors.
  12. You guys forgot AnnaSophia Robb who is in the running for Kimberly too. She is easily the biggest name of the entire bunch.
  13. Kind of. Rapture, the underwater city in the game, was built and governed following Ayn Rand's principles and philosophies, so obviously went to shit.
  14. I was scratching my head trying to remember who Mitchell Hope played in The Descendants and then I googled him and found that the "Descendants" in question is actually Disney Channel's latest atrocity.
  15. If people thought Perlmutter was a nightmare boss then the way Saban used to treat its PR actors in the 90's will be considered downright hellish. Apparently the actor playing Blue Ranger in the show and original movie, David Yost, had to suffer through years and years of emotional bullying by the studio just because of his real-life sexuality. The trauma reached such a point that he quit before the second film started production and took a break from acting altogether.
  16. I agree, AC is a far more unique concept than Unchartered. Having said that, a Chris Pratt-led Unchartered would probably mean easy $$$. I still think Bioshock is the franchise with the most movie potential though. Incredibly relevant themes in today's times, a captivating story and a visual fiesta. I can only hope Cameron drops Avatar 2 and uses all the underwater concept work for a Bioshock movie instead.
  17. The show apparently enjoyed Hannah Montana-levels of popularity during its time, and the dolls actually outsold Barbie in the 80's. But as DamienRoc said, they did not do anything with it since earlier this year when a new comic came out, so the fanbase never grew except for maybe the children and acquaintances of the previous fanbase, and some kids who caught it on syndicated reruns. And the trailers showing none of what made the show appealing in the first place has majorly repulsed that limited but existing fanbase too.
  18. The first time I heard Sweater Weather I thought it was a new Adele single. So obvs it turns out to be a dude.
  19. This didn't have a thread until now? The book is really good and avoids the major pitfalls it could have fallen into. Brie seems great and it's nice to see her getting accolades. That trailer is way too spoiler-y for my liking though.
