  1. Black Panther literally became such a gigantic cultural phenomenon that it created a massive change in Hollywood casting and the kind of actors and storytellers being given more opportunities, noticeable to this day. Including, you know, John David Washington in The Creator, the film that has triggered this discussion.
  2. Don't even know if the pink doggie is the main character but they put her front and center on the poster to capitalize on Barbiecore feminism. How insidious.
  3. Umm, scabbing is scabbing in its various forms. Barrymore's critics were completely justified in dragging her. Of course, social media being social media, I'm sure trolls overdid it but that is the case for every issue on the planet. People who brought up valid concerns were completely in the right. It isn't just "for the fun of it" when people's livelihoods are in danger of being erased. Also why would soulless execs give a fuck about Drew lol
  4. You were talking about critics going easy on "diverse casts" (which as ChipDerby mentioned is BS as most of the Fast films, Suicide Squad etc. have shown otherwise) and now you suddenly switched to films "made" by women and minorities lmao Also, those articles were compiled considering how overwhelmingly white and male the RT base at the time were, and they tended to not connect to women and minority experiences. Meryl Streep was the one who originally brought this up even before Brie.
  5. On the flip side, if Barbenheimer hadn't happened, these asshole execs would have pissed in their pants and gone to the negotiation table to end the strikes much sooner.
  6. In a year that was won by one of the most feminist blockbusters of all time, anyone who takes these Go Woke Go Broke characters seriously are kind of just looking to agree with them at this point. There's no way in heck Disney corporate produced The Marvels is going to be anywhere as woke as Barbie. The clowns don't have a point and they should just be called out for their clownery instead of being entertained.
  7. Possibly but IW and EG did some damage to GotG via Star-Lord's character as well. So it was always going to be an uphill battle for the Guardians in Phases 4-5. Of course, following up Quantumania put GotG3 in a worse position. The fact that it still didn't bomb is actually a testament to how strong the MCU as a brand still is especially when they put out good movies.
  8. EUTS plot is by the numbers and reveal is basically the same as Nile. Come to think of it, it is the poor man's Death on the Nile. Would be money burned. Not that Branaugh will get another theatrical turn. ABC Murders will make for a fun Saturday afternoon tune in on Hulu.
  9. Why? Other films like basically had the same twist or a variation of it. Though I think these BO results mean the end of the Branaughstache but if they want something Direct to Hulu then I'd prefer Cards On The Table or The ABC Murders to be the next entry.
  10. The late legs on BP winners used to be crazy but then in the 2010s studios started stacking awards seasons with more and more blockbusters and then streaming rose, making OTT the choice for most people to catch awards fare on. The Shape of Water and Everything Everywhere All At Once especially are films that would have passed 100M if they had come out in previous decades. Maybe even Parasite.
  11. That book does sound incredible. Will try to give it a read before the film comes out. Fingers crossed for the reviews tomorrow.
  12. I haven't seen a single project with Willow but she's been nominated for 2 Daytime Emmys. As for Jaden, The Karate Kid was the biggest global non-Will Smith movie starring a black lead for the longest time. He was also very well received in The Pursuit of Happyness. So let's not trivialize everything the Smiths have accomplished or act like they forced their children down GA's throats.
  13. Yeah well none of those films are the Oppenheimer to Taylor's Barbie so they knew well enough to scram. Also don't get why you think MI7 wasn't affected by Barbenheimer when it posted great reviews and was coming off the highest grossing and most well-received entry in the franchise
  14. Don't want to be the first person to suggest MCU but the potential of Denzel as Magneto to Giancarlo's Professor X is infinite. Especially in a Coogler or Peele directed X-Men.
  15. So it's missing 1.5B because of that one random reply from the Barbie US Twitter account to a Barbenheimer meme?
  16. When you consider it's been SEVENTEEN years since her debut album dropped and she is PEAKING like never before, her popularity snowballing with every album, I think MJ and Elvis are the only comparisons. The Beatles quit in a decade. Madonna was well past her popularity prime at the same point in her career.
  17. Mickey Mouse has technically been in a live action/animated hybrid release in the 80s (Who Framed Roger Rabbit?)
