  1. That book does sound incredible. Will try to give it a read before the film comes out. Fingers crossed for the reviews tomorrow.
  2. I haven't seen a single project with Willow but she's been nominated for 2 Daytime Emmys. As for Jaden, The Karate Kid was the biggest global non-Will Smith movie starring a black lead for the longest time. He was also very well received in The Pursuit of Happyness. So let's not trivialize everything the Smiths have accomplished or act like they forced their children down GA's throats.
  3. Yeah well none of those films are the Oppenheimer to Taylor's Barbie so they knew well enough to scram. Also don't get why you think MI7 wasn't affected by Barbenheimer when it posted great reviews and was coming off the highest grossing and most well-received entry in the franchise
  4. Don't want to be the first person to suggest MCU but the potential of Denzel as Magneto to Giancarlo's Professor X is infinite. Especially in a Coogler or Peele directed X-Men.
  5. So it's missing 1.5B because of that one random reply from the Barbie US Twitter account to a Barbenheimer meme?
  6. When you consider it's been SEVENTEEN years since her debut album dropped and she is PEAKING like never before, her popularity snowballing with every album, I think MJ and Elvis are the only comparisons. The Beatles quit in a decade. Madonna was well past her popularity prime at the same point in her career.
  7. Mickey Mouse has technically been in a live action/animated hybrid release in the 80s (Who Framed Roger Rabbit?)
  8. Summer's almost done, the Barbenheimer phenom ruled the BO, but basement dwellers still can't get off the TLM hate dick
  9. Ppl bring this up as if the female share is something to sneeze at. Due to how big Captain Marvel was, the number of women who watched it WW was more than Wonder Woman despite the latter being more female-driven. Also, Nick Fury is still playing a prominent role in this like he did in the first. If he's not enough then maybe the men not coming back wouldn't have related to CM anyway and just watched the first one because it was mandatory viewing for Endgame.
  10. My take on the TMNT IP and why it hasn't managed to break out despite having a lot of things going for it: Trying to force the Turtles into live action since the 90s was a brand damaging mistake. A bunch of anthropomorphic creatures or characters that look outlandishly cartoonish (like Mario) leading a live action film always has limited appeal. Even the Scooby-Doo films relied on the popularity of the four real teenagers to be successful in the early 2000s Maybe it was better suited to blow up as an animated Illumination franchise like Minions or Super Mario Bros. But for that it needed a rest on screen since the 90s like SMB
  11. Barbie is definitely the highest brand awareness IP that never got a live action theatrical movie until now. Similar to Wonder Woman becoming the biggest superhero origin movie at its time of release despite not having a movie out for 75 years or so of existence.
  12. Yeah Deadpool 3 is still most likely to be next year's winner so I don't think Feige will be losing sleep over MCU not being in the Top 3 this year again. In fact, D3, NWH and to a lesser extent MoM's successes show that people still turn up for the Phase 3 pull of character team-ups like in Civil War, Ragnarok and Homecoming. Phases 4 and 5 were an experiment in trying to replicate Black Panther and Captain Marvel's successes with standalone characters but Feige forgot both of those films were positioned perfectly (BP introduced in CW and leading into Infinity War, CM in between IW and Endgame). After Fantastic Four, I don't think we'll be getting many of these standalone character movies anymore.
  13. There's no scenario where Barbie was making less than Oppenheimer. The film's genius marketing deserves credit for the auto-generator This Barbie is... posters, the She's everything. He's just Ken tagline, Robbie's different Barbie looks on the red carpet premiere etc. They knew exactly how to keep the hype going.
  14. Why is he estimating 6 whole days for another 19M to beat Mario? (Could be a lesser amount if NCD is even higher)
  15. You kid but I think tiered pricing could genuinely save smaller fare including romcoms and comedies at cinemas. Maybe not as less as $4 though.
  16. Many films would end up in the 290s including New Moon and Man of Steel. Twilight Saga: Eclipse needed a Bella's Birthday special re-release to touch 300M.
  17. Dayum my mind blocked out the Mulan remake. Good for me. 😛
  18. It's always been a coin flip in terms of quality whenever a new live action remake comes. But the "They're all awful" narrative is an exaggeration. Good Maleficent (first one) Cinderella Pete's Dragon The Jungle Book Aladdin Cruella Peter Pan & Wendy The Little Mermaid Crap Alice films Maleficent 2 Beauty and the Beast The Lion King Pinocchio Haven't Seen Dumbo Lady & the Tramp
  19. It's easier to market a pop-culture phenomenon to the last holdouts than untested new releases or films that are seen as 'tarnished' due to lower BO
  20. Wasn't Cap 4 delayed because it's even less ready than Deadpool 3? It's getting pushed to Presidential Election Week in November if Marvels and D3 are delayed
  21. Disney had Strange World last Thanksgiving too. I think logistics sometimes just doesn't allow a major tentpole to be moved up by even a week. And this is assuming Deadpool 3 doesn't get delayed, making Disney push Marvels to May. Let's see.
  22. Wakanda Forever stayed put in the second weekend of November, despite the first weekend being empty.
