The Sandman (2022) | Netflix |

Lol looks like I got my answer pretty quickly. The anthology stories are perfect for these special episodes. -
I'm sure the same argument could have been made for Jason Kilar when he shifted the entire 2021 theatrical slate to simultaneous release but look how that turned out. There are things that don't make sense like why does HBO have its own OTT service separate from HBO Max? But instead of streamlining the services, Zaslav is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Of course, the cold, cynical reality is Zaslav probably doesn't give a fuck about WB properties, is just gutting them to penny pinch, and wants to mostly focus on strengthening Discovery.

DC's most expensive show yet and it is already 2nd to Never Have I Ever? 😒 I feel like Netflix didn't have much faith in this with that late embargo. As for the show itself, it's pretty neat and while I missed all the phantasmagoric visuals and vibes from the comics, they were some stories like 24 Hours which incredibly improved upon the source material, something I didn't think possible. Boyd Holbrook and the actors playing Death and Desire are amazing. Tom Sturridge... eh, I thought he would work better since he was such a mind-blowingly perfect visual fit for the character but... he wasn't able to bring the menace of Morpheus alive. The actress playing Lyta Hall is soo gorgeous. Did they deliberately cast someone who resembles Gal Gadot? I'm curious to see how they handle the anthology volumes like Dream Country and Fables & Reflections. Of course I have big doubts whether this show will continue in the first place. Don't get why this couldn't have been an HBO Max Original. -
Wait so the clickbaiters were right and he IS anti-woke after all? Ugh, I guess I won't be getting my Dune: Messiah white savior deconstruction movie after all. Furiousa is probably dead too but w/o Charlize, who cares. Speaking of Charlize though, her queer Aqualad project is soo gone. Is he gonna fuck with Barbie too? What about HBO stuff like Euphoria? Clusterfuck implications.

I'm shocked re Batgirl but I feel this confirms that HBO Max is dunzo for the most part (maybe except for the rumored unscripted reality programming). Zaslav said Fuck 'em Emmies! TBF tho the HBO shows like Succession, Euphoria, The White Lotus, Westworld and the GOTverse pull in sufficient Emmy noms by themselves. I'm thinking well-received HBO Originals like Hacks will now survive and be transitioned to HBO.

+ Amethyst Princess of Gemworld. She-Ra actually was the rip-off version of it in the 80s -

Wow so people under 40 catapulted NWH to almost 1.9B all by themselves? -
Yeah, if I were a Hollywood exec, I'd be over Cavill and his shit at this point too. He has still not proven he is a substantial draw at the BO by himself. He needs to cooperate and play along for at least one solo blockbuster that doesn't feature a star (or director) bigger than him that does gangbusters. Then he can make all these demands. Even RDJ, ScarJo and Holland had to ensure Sherlock Holmes, Lucy and Uncharted respectively were successful to show their BO potential outside of the MCU comfort zone. The way he's currently behaving, Cavill is relegating himself to a lifetime of making streaming content. If that's what he wants for his career then good for him but he needs to wise up if he wants to be a cinematic star.

Her behavior was especially disappointing BECAUSE she is this gifted. Anyhoo, I'm glad it seems to have worked out in the end. Angela B. bringing it with her line delivery. And that Tems cover of No Woman, No Cry? Oof. Whatever is shown of Namor and the Atlanteans (are they still going to be called that?) looks incredible too. Ryan pours an astounding amount of empathy into his work. I wouldn't be complaining if he got the keys to MCU X-Men. But honestly I would like to see more non-Marvel, non-Creed stuff from him. Such an immense talent.
