The only kinda bright spot of Rings marketing was those set-up pranks, which was already done with Carrie anyway. Everything else look dire and dreadful (not the wanted kind). Reviews are hilarious though. Oh well, go Hidden Firgures! -
Arrival is doing quite well with the expansion. Hopefully it got the needed Oscar boost for the 100m threshold.

Silence is just a real hard sell. Its audience basically comprised of a selective few of us movie fanatics and Tele's people (a dying breed). I'm just glad I had the chance to catch it in theater once.

E.L. James having the final cut means that the potential for hilarity has been increased tenfold. I'm so excite. My group had already worked out details for a GNO that involves this movie and something else. I hope it delivers. -

Quietly excite for this. I'm just glad to have more chances of seeing Harrison Ford point angrily at things. It's one of my aesthetics.

Teller worked in Whiplash because we all projected ourselves into JK Simmon's character and got the satisfaction from beating the shit out of him. There's nowhere in La La Land for us to vent had it been Teller in the role.

I'm just looking for an entertaining time at theater with this movie. And glimpses of those locations filming in Vietnam. So yeah, still pretty excited for it. Don't quite feel the buzz and chatter around me personally. But that can always change with marketing ramming it up last minute. At the moment though, if it does end up mediocre, I can see it quietly come and go, lost in the shuffle amidst the various high profile releases in March.

The movie certainly plays well with general audience. I watched this again yesterday with a big group of friends. Like 1/3 of my classmates and more, lots of couples. This one will play so well over Valentine Day. That epilogue though, there was so much crying and sniffling I hear from the girls lol.

Weird choices of clips. Like that one of Ryan Gosling for example. He's not excellent or anything, but there were certainly better scenes than the one shown. Heck, even his singing clips would have been better.

Affleck' smug face though. Looks so punchable. Hopeful for ma man Denzel to pull off the upset again on Oscar night.

That Best Actor was one big surprise. I shouted in joy so loud, must have scared all my roommates lol. My man Great speech from Taraji!

I might need to rewatch it since I wasn't in the best mood then. But I'm not a big fan of either Affleck nor Williams so that could have some negative influence too. Like it was well-directed and acting were good, but I never got fully committed to story or characters.

Don't worry. You won't like it base on the movie's own merit. It did excel at that.
