Very emotional movie, although, for some reason, I didn't really connect with it. I liked Sean Penn in this, and I think the Oscar was deservedly given to him.

 

The only thing that really affected me was when his daughter died. I really liked her, even though her screen time was very small, and her death really made me teary eyed (especially seeing her body thrown like that).

 

The ending twist is really unexpected. The movie is well executed to make you think that he really killed her, but the end is just heart wrecking.

A+, such a powerful, emotional movie. Penn is phenomenal here, at times heart-breaking. 9.7/10 overall for me, very near perfect film.

Definitely one of my favorites and my favorite Eastwood film. Penn is brilliant.

A good episode of a cop show starring Kevin Bacon and Laurence Fishburne stuck inside of a dull, portentous, heavy-handed slog filled with forced drama, half-baked motivations, barely-there supporting characters, eyeroll-inducing coincidences, lifeless visuals and INTENSE facial expressions. Not as bad as Million Dollar Baby but not too far from it. Dire enough that I feel like downing a bottle of Jack Daniels all by myself now.
