Wkend #s: 82.5 DM2, 29.4 TFR, 25 Heat, 19.6 MU

When Wall-E opened, KFP dropped 46%, but WallE opened to 63 mill.  DM2 opened much stronger, so the 57% drop is pretty understandable.

I thought the question was "the biggest non-sequel of the summer".MOS is not a sequel any more than Batman Begins was.

Fair enough.  But it should be reboot/sequel/prequel.

I think it'll recover next weekend (25-30%) but it's abundantly clear that it didn't coexist with DM2. Should probably end up in the 270-280m domestic range.

Turbo will hurt it too, and Smurfs will finish it off.

Even if Turbo essentially flops, it'll still take money (and showtimes) away from MU.

It's still an existing property.

just because they blew it with Superman 4 and 5 (and 3 though it got a sequel) doesn't mean they get to pretend like Superman 6 is something untried and new on the big screen
