Brahmastra Has Highest Non Holiday Opening Day Of All Time

Brahmastra has had a huge first day as it collects around 35-36 crore nett in all its versions which is the highest opening day in history on a non holiday for original Hindi content.

Seems like its not gonna flop

As I mentioned in my previous comments, it is one hell of a spectacle. The money they spent on VFX and post-production is fully visible on screen.

Literally one of two tweaks would have made this a genuinely good movie. Either reduce the focus on the love story and give that time to the villain's backstory and motivation

Spoiler

the villain has genuinely no backstory and/or motivation in this movie. She just exists to be the villain

or do the twist which looks like you are setting up before you completely chicken out from it

Spoiler

Alia should be the villain. Watch the movie keeping that in mind and her character now makes complete sense instead of being completely useless in the plot.

Also give the side characters a... character. As it stands in the movie, the side characters just exist. We don't know anything about them, they are there just because we need some characters to look at Ranbir in awe.

Brahmastra OD - ~₹34 Cr

Less than ½ of RRR &KGF Chapter 2

Thats because South people don't accept hindi heroes. South industry & Bollywood is like China & Hollywood. Chinese like Hollywood movies but US citizens don't like Chinese movies.

Sorry, It actually ¼ of RRR &KGF Chapter 2.

Movie wasn't bad if you regularly intake Indian masala movies. The VFX really do justice to it's 400 Cr. Budget. It's the story that mocks you at times, I don't get why they add stupid love story in every super-hero movie attempts and Also, villain existed for the sake of it (~No, Mouni wasn't a bad Act at all), All fault lies with whoever wrote the story or dialogues. BTW, first 10-15 minutes were great.

LOL good joke....first of all Hindi movies do not have great dubbed market here and 2nd in south only Karnataka and Telangana states have good amount of hindi speaking population while the others don't thats the reason! Don't generalize saying south doesnt accept hindi heroes...have you seen how great SRK's movies perform here...irrespective of talk

Brahmastra had great potential but dialogues and love story made it worse and there wasn't that emotional connect which is required in a movie like this....weak villain is another bummer!

On the positive side VFX is really cool....enjoyed those on imax...one time watch for this and what have they planned in 2nd part!

Ayan needs to work on 2nd part if it happens...carefully

Irony being South is place where Brahmastra has performed best.

I don't think any bollywood movie has grossed even Rs 150 crores total in South India. I think top 3-4 highest grossing bollywood movies in South India are Dangal, Padmavat, PK & Sultan. Dubbing should not be a problem. Hindi audience accept hindi dubbed south movies then why south people don't accept tamil telegu kannada dubbed bollywood movies? Reason is they are not emotionally attached with bollywood heroes like they attached with their local heroes.

Your logic is flawed. South this, South that. North this, North that.

Hindi Audience don't accept Hindi dubbed South Movies easily either, we have accepted very few good South Movies. Maybe, a dozen of Movies out of thousands they have made.

But, South has always been market for Bollywood Movies. Ofcourse, you can't expect the Bollywood to penetrate the rural/semi-urban areas of south because of cultural and language differences and that's the place where the South Industry have manage to market as they can connect with masses, which Bollywood sadly has been forgetting even in it's own circuit.

Also, You are talking about "Brahmastra" which has made lotsa money on OD thanks to South only.
