We have a Bollywood hit right? Pleeeeeeease

Well... it will do well, probably make it's money back as well, but calling it a Hit will depend on how much it can go beyond the crazy budget it carries.

No complaints about the budget, it's all up on the screen for the viewer to see for sure but it's just set the success bar very high.

Brahmastra Is A HIT - Insane Growth on Second Saturday

Brahmastra has emerged a HIT film as it shows insane growth on the second Saturday which could be 65-70% or even more in Hindi. The collections in languages have not grown much but its mainly about the Hindi versions which may collect over 14 crore nett. This will take the Hindi version to around 168 crore nett with the Sunday to come.

The growth on Saturday is simply phemomenal as its very rare for a big film to jump this much even on a second Saturday while post pandemic its like a dream. Its also across the board with national chains and non nationals while single screen contribution is less anyway but they have still grown as well as they could. The Hindi version alone now could be on course easily for a weekend of 38 crore nett which is an excellent number for the second weekend. It will be around 40 crore nett in all languages.

Brahmastra - $30.6M (€244 Cr)

In the sophomore session, Dharma Productions and Star Studios’ Brahmastra Part One: Shiva — which Disney is releasing overseas in India and the UK — saw a sizable 66% drop from opening in the home market (though that’s better than some recent Marvel pics). The running total in India is $30.6M with another $1M from the UK. When including North America, the global cume is $38.4M. Factoring in other international markets where it’s in play, the worldwide total is an estimated $41M

Assuming the 410 Cr. production budget number is true (plus whatever they spent on print and advertising) it looks like that the movie, despite making a boatload of money, will likely not recover its budget. They need to reduce the budget for the next one if they want to make a profit.

410 cr budget is not just for this one but for whole trilogy, 410 cr budget will be divided in 3 movies. Read this Ranbir Kapoor interview-

Thats not entirely true. What Ranbir is talking about are VFX assets (like fire) that were created for this movie that can be utilized in future movies. This will reduce the VFX budget for future movies by some percentage (or in other ways help spread the VFX portion of the budget across the 3 planned movies). You can read more at - https://www.hindustantimes.com/entertainment/bollywood/is-brahmastra-hit-or-flop-explaining-the-economics-of-box-office-collections-101663658911091.html

Also according to that article the VFX budget was around 100 Cr. Accountants can do creative math and spread it around 3 movies but since this was the first movie and all the assets had to be created for it, it means that its VFX would have been high. Any reduction in budget would be apparent in subsequent movies.

Krrish 3 official numbers were faked. It did only 176cr in Hindi and 7.5cr in Telugu & Tamil.

K3 (Hindi) numbers were

18.9
15.5
15 // 49.5
29.6
21.3
12.5
8.8 // 121.2

42 2nd week
8.5 3rd week

It's bit complicated and I haven't got confirmed numbers yet, but the actual investment is well under ₹400cr, in fact closer to ₹200cr. e.g. Ranbir hasn't received fee and is producing the film but the budget includes a proposed fee value.

A large chunk of cost is finance cost due to delays. This and some pre-production is supposed to be amortised in 3 parts.

That's what he saying, assets(vfx & others) that they have developed for this will be used for entire trilogy. So budget of next movie will be much less & they would eventually recover the budget.

It's so weird that the issues with the movie are pretty clear to anyone on a watch through and no one caught them during the story and screenplay sessions

Tighten those a bit and this could have been an all timer instead of coasting on the effects.
