Dementeleus
You guys should've voted! IndustriousAngel, that's an excellent and offbeat choice: the Aardman guys are great with all their action scenes.
Jake Gittes
The Reloaded and Revolutions scenes might be heavy on CGI, but to me, they still manage to be ridiculously exciting; I rewatched them as I was reading the thread, and I was grinning like a kid. Whereas 90% of today's CGI set-pieces leave me cold. I would've killed to see Reloaded and Revolutions on an IMAX screen.
Dementeleus
My personal faves tend to be live-action stunts with CG (if present at all) only used minimally, but the Wachowskis sure know how to stylistically hit every beat of action.
baumer
Too bad in Box office Casino we couldnt make bets for what we think will be number one. The way this site is its either the cafe end scene in TDKR or The Hobbit Dinner scene. Edited September 7, 2013 by baumer
IndustriousAngel
Didn't even know there was a vote ... don't spend enough time here obviously btw if it comes to real-life action, I hope the crane chase from T3 made the Top10 (otherwise pretty forgettable movie, but that chase was something to behold). And I have a deep love for train movies, so some train chase or train action (Emperor of the North maybe) should be in there too!
chasmmi
Very happy to see Oldboy make it. Say what you will of LOTR, but some of their battle scenes are beyond epic. Really hoping to see Matrix win as some of the stuff in that film would look ground breaking even if it was released today.
Dementeleus
#10 (a bit of a surprise): Apocalypto (2006) "End Chase" director: Mel Gibson
baumer
Wow. Cool. A film I haven't seen. Must check that one out. So my prediction for next 9: In no particular order: Raiders of the Lost Ark opening Matrix lobby scene (going to rescue Morpheus) TDK chase scene (barf) Something from ROTK Something from TTT Terminator 2 final chase Raiders truck scene where Indy hangs off the bottom of the truck That's all I can think of.
Jake Gittes
I think/hope the freeway chase from Reloaded will be there. It's THE set-piece of both Matrix sequels.
The Stingray
The lord of the rings battles are boring, overlong CGI-fests.

baumer
The lord of the rings battles are boring, overlong CGI-fests. I thought Helms Deep was a bright spot in a disappointing film.

I honestly did not think this would make it but damn am I happy it did. I voted for this as one of my 25 and (not to sound like an octogenarian) but for me to have such a recent film make the cut, for me, it had to be something special. I love this film and love this scene.

Jake Gittes
Helm's Deep is one of the best old-fashioned epic battle sequences ever put on screen.
