mcclaine
Cloudy estimates were wrong all weekend. Even from the first ones from Friday, some said a $13M friday... and then projected a $44M weekend.
iceroll
Um what happened to The Wizard of Oz? It decrease 78.2% from Thursday to Friday when it should have increased 200%+ considering it's a family movie and fell 82% overall. There wasn't even much of a theater loss, only 13 less from 318 to 305.

Metallica took most (I'm guessing all, actually) of Oz's screens, BUT Oz was still playing once daily at 11:30AM on those screens. That was the situation here (Miami) on both IMAX screens near me, so it would make sense that it also happened nationally, especially since the massive drop would have no other explanation. It actually makes the per theater average relatively impressive since it would be from a total of three showings a weekend. Odd that they're release right after each other when there's such a void in the fall of releases that could use IMAX.

Its the norm too for these "1 week" limited theater re-releases, the advertising does its job gets people out during the first week and then it crashes and burns particularly if like with Oz its number of screenings is decimated.
