The Hateful Eight | Out NOW in Digital and 70mm | 187 minutes long including a 12 minutes intermission

I think the "backlash" has to do with subject matter. People also theorize that the critics recognized they got it wrong which is why the heavily rewarded Django, which is (in my opinion and I'm sure many others) the weaker of the two films.

I agree it's the "weaker" of the two.

I quote weaker, cause it's still a damn fine film.

Death Proof is Tarantinos only misfire. And that is still worth watching.

I wish IB weren't quite so cartoony. My heart sunk when I saw the trailer and realised we weren't getting the serious Tarantino war film I'd hoped. No surprises that the strongest scenes (the opening, the lunch with the French girl, and the extended bar sequence) are the ones that play it straight.

Django I could take or leave. It wasn't very compelling whenever Dicaprio wasn't onscreen.

I assume H8 will be in the same vein as those two, but we'll see.

What are the bad parts of IB? Recently decided it was my favorite movie ever, awkward.

As for TH8 I'm just not sure at the moment. Story seems IDK, but 1. he has the best dialogue, 2. since I'm from NYC I'll be able to see it with all the trinkets and fanciness as intended on Christmas :P
