Wednesday Numbers: Catching Fire 20.7m, Frozen 15.2m, Thor 2.3m (yay) Smashing like a Wrecking Ball!

Recommended Posts

WOW CF has like a 60% chance at beating IM3 (arbitrary number I know :P). Get that money CF!!!!! I loved IM3, but it would be awesome to see a 2D film with a female lead win the year!

Even though I don't think it's very likely, I am crossing all my fingers and all my toes and praying to my Katniss shrine that this happens. When was the last time a film that rested entirely on a female lead's shoulders topped the year's box office? It would make such an incredible statement that (hopefully) Hollywood studios won't be able to ignore.

Wow, my projection keeps increasing.

22M

15.4M

33.6M

32.7M

17.9M

84.2M(-47%) 2nd biggest 2nd weekend of all time, much better hold than THG.

307.6M 10 day total. Just behind TDK for 3rd biggest 10 day total. This is just unfucking believable. 400M+ is happening folks, 400M sequel curse is broken!!!!!!!!!!  :excited:  :excited:  :excited:  :excited:  :excited:

From what?

Here are Catching Fire's daily percentage changes:

-25.8%, -34.4%, -64.3%, +29.5%, +38.4%

DH1:

-38.0%, -34.3%, -65.0%, +16.8%, +40.5%

Take off your blind HP fanboy goggles, and you can see that CF's run is objectively better than DH1's.

before the 22m number, I would say both runs were quite similar

It doesn't have to top Iron Man 3 to catch their attention.Granted, they'll see...based on best selling book make it like that. divergent...greenlight!

Entirely on a female lead's shoulder's? Probably never. It would make history.

Movies that have won the year in the past 33 years. None of have a female lead I think (except maybe Titanic)

Yess!

Female action hero dealing with struggles of being forced into the symbol of a rebellion against oppressive tyranny > Generic 3D superhero tentpole.

Sigh. Yep. Taunton isn't that far from paaaawtucket ;) RI is also dumb with their street highways.

Plymouth is always nice to go to though.

Taunton is just in a funny place. It's sandwiched in between all the major places.

Are you close to West Hartford, Conn?

If CF follows DH1's basic pattern from here:

Wed- 22.0m(+38%)

Thu- 17.6m(-20%)

Fri-  31.7m(+80%)

Sat- 28.5m(-10%)

Sun- 14.3m(-50%)

2nd Weekend: 74.5m(-52.9%)

I'm looking forward to seeing a +10m lead against DH2 in your dailies comparisons tomorrow!  :excited:  :excited:
