well i guess no movies for me this weekend 

 

this is what's playing at my theatre right now:

walking with dinosaurs / madea xmas / paranormal activity / walter mitty / grudge match / frozen / anchorman 2 / 47 ronin (3D)

 

there is nothing i want to pay money for !!

8.5M is solid for a spin off and better than most were expecting. 

 

It's definitely a little better than I expected, and the movie will be profitable. But... why the industry is blaming the weather when most other movies are doing just fine is suspect, IMHO.

Is it true that Spielberg got the PA train rolling?

 

Pretty much, yep. The story goes that he had a screener, watched it home, weird stuff started happening (his bedroom door locked? or something to that effect...), and then he got the ball rolling on a distribution deal.

40M is the target right?

 

PA4 was kind of the target. With a 17.5M (that is the weekend number being projected) I doubt it can hit 40M. 

 

While 17.5M will be weak for a PA film, it is a good number for a horror film.
