Do they really need to advertise American Idol much? It's been going on for 10 years people know when it will be on and when it's coming back.

This needs to attract new audience.

Do they really though? Awareness and exposure are high enough that everyone who was ever interested has tried watching it. I think what they need to focus on is keeping viewers and convincing people who abandoned the show to come back.

I think the show will be down a lot this year because of X-Factor. I have received my fill of amateur music for the rest of the year. With that being said, I do love to watch the terrible auditions so I will probably watch those episodes. Then I will get hooked to one of the contestants and root them on until they get out because my favorite always does. Then I will stick around and see who wins, all the while I say I knew he or she would win. The End.

That was a really impressive auditions episode. The last guy was really amazing, he's going to be fun to watch.

I didn't watch the whole thing but I liked how they let in the brother and the sister even though the brother wasn't going to audition.

I hate to say it, but I called it. The X-Factor is almost exactly the same shit and it just ended. Why would people want to watch both? They seemed to have cancelled each other out.

If you add up The X Factor and American Idol's ratings now, you'll get around the same ratings that Idol got a few years ago.

Wow, Jim Carrey's daughter auditioned. She was quite average though. I'm surprised she would go on this because she has all the exposure/money she could ever need.

I thought last night's episode was the best of the season so far. It sucks/was a bad idea to slot it after the game, though.
