Weekend Numbers: GOTG - 94M (PG 180) [25.5M Sunday (Spatula) Cancel the Godzilla legs!]

Depending how fast DC is building their cinematic universe, they could still make a Wonder Woman movie before Marvel does a female-led movie.

Maybe. The earliest DC could start work on a WW movie is after Justice League. At least so far as shooting is concerned.

i'm actually really looking forward to watching gotg but it's funny how even in a team consisting of a living tree, talking raccon, and two aliens, a white human male is the main character

But you cant sell merchandise and have sequels for Fault. For the long-term, nothing beats a successful franchise.

Eh, but notice all the John Green books suddenly getting adapted

It's more Farscape than Firefly.

I wouldn't know; I've never seen Farscape

Sorry. When do you think we could hear something about early Saturday estimates from Rth and/or Spatula?

Probably not until this evening, Pacific time, so maybe 6 hours from now at the earliest? (In all likelihood it'll probably be more like 11pm or later).

So there may finally be a movie this year that makes more money than 50-year-old Sandra Bullock floating alone in space?

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Hopefully. Personally I didn't really like Gravity. Other than it's technical achievements, I thought it was a meh movie

Really hope Guardians breaks the typical Marvel 2.5-2.7 multipliers

I think, with the reception this seems to be getting so far, it could end up topping The Avenger's multiplier.

Not going to watch Gravity on IMAX when I had the occasion is my biggest regret.

The closest IMAX theater to me is a 3 hour drive  :(

I usually only get 1-2 movies a year in IMAX, and sadly Gravity or Guardians wasn't one of them
