PAN'S LABYRINTH, followed by CHILDREN OF MEN and then DEPARTED (see, I'm not a hater!). THE PRESTIGE is just a hair behind, at least going by my original reviews.

:D  Throw in Casino Royale and that's my top 5. Just different order.

1. Departed

2. Pan's Labyrinth

3. Casino Royale (so much better than that one billion dollar Bond movie :stirthepot: )

4. Children of Men

5. The Prestige

All of those are great.

Well, I'm trolling slightly... slumming is more SHUTTER ISLAND (and CAPE FEAR). I dunno, I still don't agree about the "masterpiece" stuff, though.... it's like calling Fincher's DRAGON TATTOO a masterpiece: both directors have trod those tracks, many times, and in greater depth.

I agree on that one. Calling that a masterpiece is definitely Fincher slumming, especially if you compare it to the original, which is. Kinda in the same boat with Shutter Island as well.

I was never sure if I loved the Departed or hated it when it was released, at least up until THAT scene. I was terribly upset by that but got over it. I also hated Jack's pedo character, for some reason his natural cockiness in his performances plus the fact he played a kiddy fiddler made me absolutely detest him. Anyway, it's a movie that stirred a lot of emotions but it's great and definitely in my top 4 of 2006

Good trailer. But GA not interested in such a movie at all. Gonna bomb box office wise.

I dont know about that. it has Clooney and Bullock and visual effects. Right campaign can make it a hit.....see this weekend.

Clooney will bring in the older crowds. It could have some really nice legs.

And Bullock as well. Both are huge draws for the over 40 crowd who might not normally go for this kind of movie. And the premise should be appealing to the young crowd. Hello 4 quads.

Children Of Men is possibly one of the most overrated movie I have ever seen. Cuaron's best work is that movie with Gael Garcia Bernal and all the credit should go to an excellent script.

I did find it a tad 'overrated,' but lubezki's work was flawless. Edited by acsc1312
