DAR
Earth to Echo bombed so hard over here that in the biggest theater of the country it sold 7 tickets in the whole OD. Amazing. If the theater had 8 seats that would be pretty good
CJohn
If the theater had 8 seats that would be pretty good It has 235 seats and the movie had 4 shows in the whole day Edited August 22, 2014 by CJohn
CJohn
And don't forget Lucy being the biggest OD of the year and on track for biggest OW. Maleficent winning the Summer and The Fault in Our Stars being 2nd place. EDIT: I will join this list the fact that Sex Tape and A Million Ways to Die in the West are the top 2 comedies of the year here (ST in 1st, AMW in 2nd). Hercules and Apes 2 also deserve a mention for beating every super-hero movie this year. Piracy is big here as well and the market is dead. It suffers drops in admissions every year. Kinda shocking that even with a dead market Portugal is a bigger market than Romania. Portugal has 11 million people while Romania has around 20 million. TServo2049
That's three-fourths of a percent of the maximum potential daily admissions (7 out of 940). That's baaaaaaad.

Kinda shocking that even with a dead market Portugal is a bigger market than Romania. Portugal has 11 million people while Romania has around 20 million. Romania's an expanding market. Just imagine that in 2007 no movie made $0.5M. Now we have around 10 over 1M movies each year and quite a few over 2M (especially Ice Age, Hobbit, Pirates movies). Avatar made close to 6M. And if you wanna talk anomalies, Percy Jackson is one of the biggest movies ever here, much bigger than any Marvel/DC/HP . Also 'Pompeii' and 'The Legend of Hercules' (the Kellan Lutz movie) will beat most films this year, including Marvel ones. Right now, the biggest of 2014 is '300: Rise of an Empire' (closely followed by 'The Wolf of Wall Street') and it will almost certainly remain that way till the final Hobbit movie comes and becomes no. 2 all time after Avatar. Also, just to realise how much the market has grown, in 2006 'The Da Vinci Code' was the top movie. In 2008, 'Angels & Demons' made a bit more than 'Da Vinci', but it was no. 11 for the year. In 2015, SW7 and Inferno will open head to head and 'Inferno' has a really good chance of ending on top. Dan Brown is immensely popular here. Romania should pass Portugal next year. EDIT: And Fast & Furious is the biggest current franchise right now. That thing is an unstoppable mammoth here. CJohn
Was directed at Rio, Maleficent and Noah. Rio is a family movie that was alone over the Easter holidays, Noah is a divisive movie, some liked it, some hated it. The only big problem I see there is Maleficent

La Binoche
Why the hell is Earth to Flop adding screens? That bomb clogged up over 3,000 (empty) theaters during the prime of Summer and yet somehow they convinced theaters to pick it up again?

Because it's Relativity we're talking about (EtE is already their no. 7 movie of all time) and because they can do it: the market is as emply as it gets. TF is also expanding.
