Weekend Actuals: Mockingjay - $121,897,634 (It Went SO Wrong!)

Recommended Posts

The proximity of release to each other. We will have roughly 8-10 biopics, all of them prestige oscar bait pictures released in roughly 7 weeks. And then people will wonder why no one seems to go watch the Oscar movies. Spread them out like the CBM's. Even at their peak release based on the calendar for the next 5 years, we don't have more than 2 CBMs in a 8 week window at any point.

Agreed, actually. If a movie like BvS can be released in March, the Academy can be more open to acknowledging movies that are released outside a single quarter.

We'll suffer biopic fatigue.

There are literally dozens of biopics in line ready to get produced , Janis Joplin ( there are two films actually) with Amy Adams just got greenlit, Kurt Cobain, Freddy Mercury, Michael Jackson, AMy Winehouse, 2 Pac etc etc etc etc

I thought they would die out after X3 and Spidey 3...

They probably would have if not for Iron Man. TDK would still be a huge success, obviously, but that's because of Batman, who has always found success in film.

The oscahbait biopics generally aren't intended for as wide an audience and the marketing campaigns aren't nearly as overwhelming as superhero movies

My neighbour Ted was an interesting guy. A movie about him would probably be better than half of these movies about famous people.

Biopics are boring because they're too clean, lol. They don't like to show the dirt on people.

Apparantly the Amy Adams .joplin movie can't use any of her songs

I imagine it'll look something like this: http://youtu.be/ssT1Bw3z3EU

that's cos they've got the estate leering over them. It's usually even worse if the person's still alive. It's better when a movie just ignores all that and depicts the person in the way they want to, like the social network.

The Oscah voters love that fluffy bullshit. So many Hollywood types are so thirsty for the statue, they don't care how hard they're pandering

Maybe you should contact someone in Hollywood about making a film about Ted. What's so interesting about Ted anyways?
