Notes

• Whoa, American Sniper did better here than I thought. That's really going to help its weekend.
• Gone Girl really flopped here with only Pike getting nominated
• Inherent Vice had a good enough show that I won't complain.
• Mr. Turner also had a nice little indie slash.
• Selma succeeded, but just by the seed of its pants. Paramount utterly failed this movie. 
• Marvel movies dominated best visual effects.
• Ugh...Foxcatcher isn't that good. Jake, we agree on this one, please comfort me. 
• Still, The Boxtrolls.

I still can't deal with that Cotillard nom. I'm still in shock, like this was like the best possible Oscar morning gift ever. That campaign, with that film that couldn't even get a Foreign Langauge short List, in a Foreign Language and OMG I JUST CAN'T EVEN. 

 

And We have a lone Director this year. Miller. Still can't believe Foxcatcher hit all of those awards and then just missed picture. I'm half expecting the Academy to recount their ballots and discover they made a mistake.

It definitely is. And I loved Lego, Dragon, and BH6 but I can still safely say Kaguya is a cut above them.

Actually, I kinda see the point on LEGO possibly not being nominated. The older Academy members could easily view it as "a toy commercial" and it was released pretty early this year, so it could be forgotten.

 

Now, I personally think it'll be nominated, but a lock it ain't

Can't believe Eastwood didn't get Director. It hit literally everywhere else and St. Clinto's well St. Clinto with the Academy, so I'm surprised.
