Furious 7 Weekend Numbers: Revised Official Estimate - 146.5M (Sunday underestimated) | Official OS Estimate - 240.4M

Recommended Posts

Furious 7 opened to a stunning $240.4 million overseas this weekend. That's the third-highest international debut ever behind Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. -BOM.com

Yet I'm hearing TA had a bigger WW OW?

Didn't TA open a week before in other countries before its U.S. Release?

To be honest its a really messy record to keep track of.

Some films open on Wednesday, some its Friday some have weekend before or after added in.

Some have half the markets some have all markets.

Some have China some do not.

That article says The Rock got 33M to make Fast Five? That is impossible.

It is also hilarious Vin Diesel asked for 27M to make a sequel to The Fast and the Furious

EDIT: That article also says Michelle Rodriguez net worth is more than the one of Paul Walker. That is crazy. That article is so full of nonsense.

Not that crazy if you think about it. Michelle has done bigger project than Paul.

lol Jordana estimate. Still more money than me tho

Viacom owns CBS and Paramount.

viacom owns paramount, but they don't own cbs and cbs doesn't have a major movie connection.

bom also says audience was 51% male interesting...

meanwhile

  • captain america 2 ow: 95m
    • male: 64% * 95m =  60.8m
    • female: 36% * 95m = 34.2m
      • ow if it had drawn as many men as women: 60.8m * 2 = 121.6m
  • furious 7 ow: 143m
    • male: 51% * 143m = 72.9m
    • female: 49% * 143m = 70.1m
      • ow if it was 64/36 like cap 2: 72.9m + 72.9m*(36/64) = 72.9m + 41.0m = 113.9m

obviously it wasn't the main factor but clearly maximizing gender appeal can make a big difference. i'm sure if there were numbers readily available for racial breakdowns you would find similar results as well.

This is true.

But CBS and Viacom are both owned by the same man: Sumner Redstone, through the National Amusements holding company. So CBS will be directed to help out Paramount if need be.

BvS will take that March crown. F7 did 143M, BvS has some (Batman/Superman) of the most popular SH characters on screen for the first time (Avengers effect). THG proved it can open to 150M+ and that was more under the radar than this will be.

Paramount have a pretty sad upcoming slate actually, I don't think Beverly Hills Cop is actually even happening, last we heard Eddie Murphy hated the script and had asked for rewrites, and no way would they be releasing it on March 25 anyway, not with the importance Murphy has with this movie and franchise

Why must you keep up this nonsense?

it's literally fact that ca2 would have made more if it had f7's gender breakdown and f7 would have made less if it had ca2's gender breakdown. not really seeing why that's nonsense or a bad thing, i'm praising f7's ow just like everyone else...

Very true. Viacom and CBS share the same corporate parent. Paramount and CBS will always help each other out for that reason.

they should do the universe but invent their own story. love the shows but they're just not meant to be movies. anyone would've fucked up last airbender, just not as badly as shyamalan.
