I haven't seen the movie yet but the film has a lot to live up to, given how terrific his books are. Trailer makes it look enjoyable enough though.

No I've never read any of the books.  But the movie is just nice.  It's a showcase for Nolte and Redford.  I enjoyed Thompson as well.  There are some really nice secondary characters, highlighted by one obnoxious and annoying female hiker that thinks she is smarter than everyone else.

To be honest I found this film to be a series of (admittedly funny) sketches that never coalesced into a coherent movie. Funny and diverting but nothing great.

Pretty funny and enjoyable. It does just kinda end it seems tho.
