I'm more leaning towards Moana now too, I mean it looks fantastic, will have the benefit of being released late and remaining fresh in the voters minds, and will have some LMM boost too.

No, I think there's a chance that Sausage Party could take Kubo's spot.

 

I think Moana and Zootopia are nearly guaranteed nominations and the other 3 places are up for grabs. I don't even think Finding Dory is certain.

If Kubo's reviews keep up like this it's not going anywhere. And Dory is too successful and too well reviewed in its own right to get the shaft in favor of an R rated niche movie.

Its reviews are good but they're on the level of above average DreamWorks films. Its chances are small, especially if some of the indie contenders get a good push

Best animated film I've seen this year. It's getting US distribution very soon and is submitted already for foreign language as well (Swiss).

There have been years when films with a similar level of critical acclaim as Sausage Party have been nominated, but those years haven't been nearly as competitive as this year. If any of the consensus top five contenders miss, it'll be The Little Prince or My Life as a Courgette that displace them, not Sausage Party.

 

Aside from it not being nearly as acclaimed as those two, I suspect it's the wrong flavour of animated film for the tastes of the Academy. Hard to say for certain though since there aren't many others like it.
