Damn, Deadpool is increasing 136 theaters this weekend! Gigantic drop for 2oolander. Several studios are prepared for Oscar wins, Paramount and Open Road better hope there aren't upsets in Screenplay.

LOL.

I'm still praying the revenant doesn't win.

I think PGA gets it wrong this year, Pete Hammond said that Big Short only won by 3 votes (until he removed that blurb).

I know it will be a long shot, but a big short win means a second oscar for Brad!:D

So Deadpool is still adding theaters in it's third weekend? That's amazing. I took my brother  (who's 56) to see it last night and he was laughing the whole time. He said it had the flavor of a R rated Guardians. That's a pretty good description. After seeing this a few times, it is even more obvious that Ryan Reynolds owns this franchise. Without him, none of this works. His timing and delivery is at the heart of why this sells so well to mainstream audiences. That and they really weaved a good story. Normally if I see something more than once in theaters, the story aspect is the first to suffer if it's more about a few one -liners and effects. This movie holds up extremely well because Ryan's narrative style really keeps everything cohesive as it jumps from present to past events. There's a very clever balance between hardcore action sequences and having a softer story to give this character a heart, so you have someone not only to root for, but to really like. My brother is not a big fan of this genre, so for him to walk out really liking it speaks to it's broad appeal.  I hope it continues to have good weekend grosses as it picks up new viewers.
