PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 5 $73.8M overseas weekend (-64.6%) $386.6M overseas total $501.2M global total #PiratesOfTheCaribbean

Well, I am more than disappointed [emoji53] Does this mean $700 million WW is in danger? Or will it be making better weekdays now that summer has started? Apparently not very good with this BO prediction stuff [emoji4]

POTC is on 501 ww.

Let's say it adds 39 more dom for 153 final dom.

110 more OS from current markets should happen after 74 OS weekend (110 = 74*1.5 .... 1.5x multi off the 2nd weekend is very reasonable. Should do better actually)

That gives 501 + 39 + 110 = 650.

So needs 50 from Japan for 700 ww. Will be surprised if it misses 700 considering my 1.5x multi off the 2nd weekend is conservative.

725 is the realistic target IMO.

I can't see how it does 750 (unless Japan does more than 80).

Those who believe 750 is possible, can you point me to why? Thanks.

I think it could make about 5-10m more domestically than your calculation (that's probably optimistic, but not impossible) and maybe about 60-70m in Japan. You are probably right, but I wouldn't be surprised if it manages 750.

Yes I think one has to factor in competition when comparing Pirates and APOC 2nd weekends and projecting 3rd weekends where there is a reverse scenario.

So doing 5 more dom than my projection (153) is likely.

158 dom + 167 China = 325.

Adding Japan 65 gives 380.

CurrentOS - China is 386-142 = 244.

And CurrentOS - China weekend was 74-18 = 56. Give it 1.5x that more for 244 + 56*1.5 = 330 CurrentOS-China.

380 (158 dom + 167 China + 65 Japan) + 330 CurrentOS-China = 710.

CurrentOS-China can do 10 more than my number and Japan could do 5-10 more for 725-730.

Still doesn't rule out 750.

went up to 392m

393 actually...pretty sweet 6.5+ bump. So 2nd weekend OS came at 80+ opposed to 73.8 I guess.

Is on 507.5 WW:

120 from current OS + 42.5 from Dom = 162.5

162.5 + 55 from Japan = 217.5.

507.5 + 217.5  = 725

If that holds up then with DVD sales, they should have made enough profit to warrant a sixth and final installment to finalize the two trilogies.

The pirate franchise is so much more than the movies. The different revenues coming from many sides makes hundreds of millions of $ for Disney.. So it does'ent matter if it makes 725 or 750 mill at the BO or Sell 3 or 4 million DVD's..

If Disney and JD wants to make another one its allready in the works and only a matter of time

I can't see OST and DMTNT being part of same trilogy...

Yeah OST was one hell of a misstep. Sounds ironic considering it did 1b...but it messed up the future of the franchise.

I want to have a time machine and start over from AWE.
