Economic development also promotes the film market, more and more people are richer than before in Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, they need to consume more cultural artifacts including more films.I won't be surprised that the sequel to WOTT could make 600m OS.

They will be glad to hear you just raised the overall quota for Hollywood movies again!

Right now hollywood movies share about 50% of China yearly box office. But the market is increasing so fast that the bad quality local movies can no longer support the market as much as before. The government want to develop the film market but they cant fully rely on local movies. There are more and more theaters opened in China and they need box office to keep the theatres running, and thus they need more movies to be released, especially hollywood big movies. They need hollywood blockbusters to motive and support the ever expanding box office market. This is also one main reason of China allowing more hollywood releases. And so the share of hollywood will just keeps going up. Edited by firedeep

But, see, that doesn't mean Hollywood movies will be huge there.China protects it's own movie industry. This kind of linear thinking just doesn't work in reality.

Most Chinese Internet users use Microsoft OS, they don't pay any attention to those home-made OS at all.Related department had protected the local movie industry since 1994 when China began importing Hollywood movies.
