In the lead-up to the completion of The Eternal Storm: The Scavenger Wars Part II, we're today releasing an official clip from the film; an early scene where Lucina (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) is introduced to and clashes with series newcomer Sal (Sasha Lane) for the first time. The footage has been edited for content.

Spoiler

We find ourselves at a support group being held for veterans. Lucina is the first to arrive, and is greeted by the psychiatrist leading the session, Dr. Arya Reinhardt (played by Sarah Paulson). Arya asks Lucina how she’s holding up, and Lucina answers she’s fine… relatively.

Noting Lucina’s mild uncertainty, Arya offers that Lucina maybe helps her out with the coming session as a way of reacquainting herself with a leadership position. Lucina considers it, and later agrees to it.

The remaining participants arrive, all humans, and they get seated in a circle. Arya calls out each participant’s name in order before she realizes that one chair is left empty.

Arya: Hmm… she told me she’d be here.

Lucina: Who?

They hear a knock on the door. In enters a Scavenger woman, mid 20s, with tired eyes and a bag filled with bottles of questionable substances. The woman sees all the other participants are humans, mostly males, and she stands by the doorway, visibly shaking.

Arya introduces the Scavenger woman to everyone as Sal (Sasha Lane in mocap) and asks her to come forward, and Lucina can tell Sal’s uncomfortable being around all of them. She leans to Arya and asks if this is a good idea, but Arya deflects her concerns, even as Lucina can hear Sal murmur that Arya had promised her a separate session.

Sal stutteringly explains herself as having been born on Khouga but spent her adolescence on Kepler-255E, a Khougan space colony a few star systems away. She became a trained sniper in the latter years of the war between Scavengers and humans, her confirmed kills totaling maybe in the hundreds.

A few of the humans raise their eyebrows at her record for someone her age, some trying to interrogate Sal on what skirmishes she fought and where. The inquiries become more and more aggressive as some of the patrons start to recognize Sal from earlier encounters.

Arya tries to prevent further escalation by assuring everyone that the intent of having Sal there is to build a connective bridge between them, and to make Sal in particular understand she has nothing to fear from them. Lucina raises her hand.

Lucina: Not that I doubt your expertise, Dr. Reinhardt, but… Sal’s clearly not comfortable with this, maybe we should-

Lucina stops when she notices Sal’s taken out a cigarette and lit it. “Um… you’re not supposed to smoke in here”, she tries telling her. Arya assures Lucina it’s okay, as Sal had requested beforehand if she'd be allowed to smoke.

Lucina: Oh, so now you're catering to her wishes, doctor?!

Arya: Lucina, it’s all part of the-

Lucina: I’m starting to think this exercise wasn’t that well thought out.

Lucina gets up and snatches the cigarette right out of Sal’s hand, who stares at her like a confused toddler, soon becoming irritated.

Sal: Give it back.

Lucina: No.

Sal: I said, give it back!

Lucina: You don't get to bend the rules just because your doctor seems to think you can.

Sal: (venomous) Give. It. Back.

Lucina tosses the cigarette straight in the bin while Sal glares at her, fuming. Arya shakes her head, sighs and calls it a day, as clearly nothing’s going to get done in a hostile environment like this. “Apologies, doctor, but what the ---- did you expect?!”, Lucina snaps at her.

- End scene -

Inspired by the success of Gold Cresent Pictures’ American Dragon franchise, Endless Entertainment is in active development on a series of films of another Disney Channel animated series: Star vs The Forces Of Evil with creator Daron Nefcy (The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl) in charge as a producer for the films.

Endless has adapted TV shows/movies in the past for films (Kim Possible, Miraculous Ladybug, High School Musical (which was a co production with Blankments Productions)). Although they’re plans to expand the High School Musical universe, both Kim Possible and Miraculous weren’t so lucky as Endless is considered selling the former and the latter may be rebooted as talks for a crossover have failed. The Nickelodeon Cinematic Universe has also been shaky as rumors arise that the idea may be scrapped altogether.

Like American Dragon, the series will combine computer animation and live action. There’s apparently a game plan for it in motion as the films will aim for a hard PG but the finale may reach PG-13. The films will also be inspired by the series.

Endless is courting Zach Galifankisis as Ludo who will be motion capture animated in the film and reports say the film will be fasttracked for Y7 as a part of Endless’ big year alongside Pigeon 2 and Bionicle.

All Hourglass Pictures films pride themselves on promoting sustainability and ensuring ethical production. While essentially all of our films follow this policy, we are announcing an initiative that all films produced by Hourglass...

—do not use products, clothing, or other resources that require animal exploitation, aside from food (although the studio is gearing towards more vegetarian and vegan options.)

—use special, new equipment designed to minimize energy use.

—will be supported by our headquarters, which will be entirely reliant on renewable energy by Y12.

We are committed to a greener, friendlier world and cinema, and we hope other studios join us in this endeavor.

There are strong rumors that Gateway Productions are struggling with the script to Winston, a family drama centered around a dog. Slotted for a release in late Y5, the film is now undergoing heavy rewrites and potential cast changes. While no details have been leaked about the scope of the changes, most reports state the film is still a "dog film," but the details beyond that will be quite different to what was originally pitched. As far as anyone can tell, both Paul Rudd and Freddie Highmore are still attached to the project.

In confirmed news, Chairman and CEO Jason Winters addressed a hot topic: sequels.

"All of our films are stand-alone that tell complete stories," he said confidently. "But if the turnout is good, and the fans want more, we try to leave the door open. Not always. Sometimes a story is a story and it doesn't need to continue. But if the fans ask for it, and we're confident we can deliver, chances are we will."

Adding to that, he commented on picking up the Hostel franchise, a series already 3 films in.

"Hostel: Bloodline stands on its own. We intentionally didn't number it like the others. It's for fans, both old and new, to see how this dark and gritty world works. But it's also a family story, and that's one we haven't seen in the Hostel universe before. Will there be another one? Maybe. We have enough story content to do our own trilogy. But again, Bloodline tells its own story and does have a conclusion. Whether or not we continue it . . . we'll see."

Like it’s brethren, Can You Imagine, My Peoples and the upcoming Medusa, rumors say Endless Animation is planning on resurrecting another animated film with Laika dubbed The Shadow King being the second film in their three picture deal, with A Fool’s Errand in Y4, and the upcoming The Grim Movie Of Billy and Mandy in Y7. Henry Selick will return to the fray of his passion project to write and direct the film. The plot remains largely the same as the original: “Hap Dagger, a nine-year-old orphan, hides his fantastically weird hands from a cruel world. But when a Living Shadow Girl named Macy (Brooklyn Prince) teaches him to make amazing hand shadows that come alive, his hands become incredible weapons in a shadow war against ravenous monsters who could destroy Hap’s brother and all of New York.”

Although Hap hasn’t been cast an impressive crew is ensembled with Sunny Suljic, Benedict Cumberbatch, Richard Ayoade, Jack DeSena and Danielle Bisutti. The film is targeting a potential Y5 release but nothing is set in stone.

More news for The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl as it experiences mild rewrites due to a rights issues that affected small bits of the story. Xavier B. Irving assures the audience that it’s still going to be a fun rip roaring movie even with the changes.

- Cardi B and Colton Haynes have left the project sadly but they’re were minor roles as members of the New Warriors, Dazzler and Iceman which Endless Entertainment has swooped the rights for. Tom Vaughn-Lawlor has left as well. However, Endless Entertainment has in return inked a deal with Cardi B for another project and to help create an album for the movie.

- Justin Roilland and Taika Waititi remains on the project but now as different characters with the former voicing MODOK who appears during the opening fight as the antagonist and the latter voicing the Red King who is the same role as The Collector was.

- Sophia Taylor Ali and Nathan Fillion join the cast as beloved heroes Ms. Marvel and Wonder Man, who Endless was able to make a deal with Horizon Entertainment to use the latter.

- Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s character is the same but instead of being the mutant Fantomex, has a new name change and slight tweaks based upon the character to a brand new character: Illouise to avoid copyright.

Squirrel Girl will still hit theaters Christmas Y5
