Probably because I'm lost on where to go. Now that I have to start applying to universities for next fall, I'm starting to feel a lot of pressure. I touched on this the other day, but I still don't know what to major in. I'm worried that I'm going to fumble around and stay at a university for an absurd amount of time just trying to get my Bachelors. Plus, I kind of..... don't feel like going to school? It's weird; I want to go to school and broaden my horizons yet don't really have the motivation to go. I'm just speeding through this because what else would I do? I'm generally scared about my future.

If it helps you're not the only one who's scarred shitless about it. I'm probably just gonna follow my best friend or my girlfriend  (if we're still together) wherever they go because I don't know how to make the decision on my own. And in my head I justify it because those Schools that it would be have good business programs but idk still feel kind of cowardly about it.

Well, what are you passionate about? I'm getting a sense of deja vu since I think you talked about this back during the summer in here. Weren't you thinking about going to film school or something?

That is a bad idea. One of my cousins followed his girlfriend to a university he didn't want to go to and was stuck there when he got dumped that semester. Be your own person.

Han, sometimes in the past, we may have given you crap but I speak for all of us on the board that we both love and are here to support you.

When I said I needed to see a psychiatrist back in June, my parents guilted me out of it and questioned me about why I needed to see one. My depression subsided somewhat after that conversation, but now it's not the typical mood swigs; I'm reaaaaaaaally feeling it.

Therapy is nothing to feel guilty about.

I was, yes; I'm glad you remembered :) Personally, I don't see the value in going to film school for undergrad, especially when I have to stay in-state. Political science is the major I'm semi-defaulting to right now, but Communications is also somewhat interesting. I genuinely don't know what to do :sadno:

Have you actually  looked at the statistics for how many people change majors during college? The number is insanely high and a lot of those people turn out fine. Pick something. Go for it. If it turns out it's not the thing for you than pick another thing

You have another two years to decide what to major in.

Lady Bird really wasn't all that special. As soon as she throws herself out the fast-moving car (not a spoiler, it's in the trailer), I was like, oh it's gonna be about a quirkily rebellious teenage girl who behaves in ways only quirky rebellious teenage girls in indie movies do.

Dunno how it works in America but in my experience you can play it pretty loose in your first year. Most of those papers were foundational stuff which could apply to a whole lot of different majors. The specialisation came later on. You don't have to lock yourself into something from the get-go.

I mean it's not as if it wasn't a university I was considering before I was with her. And it's only like an hour from home.  It's something I'm considering but obviously we'll  have to see if we even  make it that far before I really have to make up my mind

No, I don't; I already have nearly 40 credits and will be at 60 after this summer.

From what I've heard some people don't settle on a major until the third year of college. But all colleges are different.

Here's the thing: I'm at community college right now. Many people go to a community college their first two years to save a bunch of money and to get a better sense of what they want to study (I think Tele did this but I'm not 100% sure). Once you complete 60 credits/your Associates, you transfer to a four year university to major in something (unless you stop at your AA). I took 15 credits last year as part of dual enrollment and am at 38 credits right now. After this spring, that goes up to 51 credits. I will probably minor or do a double major in something, so my upper-level courses likely won't be a simple two years anyways, especially when I don't know what to major in.

That's fair. Remember: if you don't think a relationship can work over long distances, it wasn't meant to be.

I think I told you back then to try the Communications field and use that to ease your way into film school. I don't know about most colleges, but the one I went to in West Virginia has a Communications department with film classes (including film making). Get some information on Comm. departments at the schools you want to go to and see what their courses are.
