BSG Movie Trivia worth 20,000 points is up.

Recommended Posts

Another question.

If you miss the films gross by 40 mill or more, you lose 5000 points. For every 20 mill you miss after the first 40 mill, you will lose 1000 points per 20 mill.

If I miss by 40-59.99M, I lose 5,000.

If I miss by 60-79.99M, I lose 20000+5000=25000?

It's just a game of accuracy. So I try to deduct a lot of points. For those of you not here from the beginning, this game was created because I got tired of people saying stuff like, "Oh I knew Bridesmaids would be a big hit." and stuff like that. So i made the game and told people to put their predictions in ahead of time. It just grew from there. It's easy to predict that THG games will do 350 mill now, all the tracking was out weeks ago and the opening weekend has all but guaranteed that. But when you have to predict the top 12 for the summer, in MAY, you are going by your true acumen, not reports from tracking websites. That's where the fun comes in.

My top 12 was terrible last year. I have a hard time reading films so far out which is a skill in itself and involves a hell of alot of guess work for films that aren't sequels. I'm more of a week to week day to day predictor.Top 12 is my weakness in this game the weekly questions are were my hopes of winning sit.

Top 12 is tough to do, no doubt. But that's why there are so many other facets of the game to get points in.Don't worry if you have one perceived weakness. With SOTM, 4 months of weekly questions and preseason questions, more than half of your points will come from there.

You mean like"Answers week 1"Answers week 2"and so on

Aye. THat way each week has its own thread for questions, answers, and/or comments. Would help reduce the clutter of the answers thread and help track down any scoring issues much quicker, I think.I saw that you mentioned templates. I still have one from last year that I used for each category of the game. If you're interested, I can forward it along.

I am doing top 12 right now. You can go ahead and do the international/SOTM if you want. Just let me know it.

Well do the top 12 and WW top 5 together in one template.ill do SOTM and weekly's as they will be similar. the opening weekends will prob need to be done manually as we are just listing them and no grosses right?

Guys, I appreciate the help from both of you and once again, thank you so very much for helping out. I hope the two of you can work together on this. It'll make the game that much better. :)

You lose 5000 points for missing it by 40 mill to 60 mill. Every 20 mill after 60 you lose 1000 points.

You might want to rephrase that. This caused confusion last year too.

Because it says "

If you miss the films gross by 40 mill or more..." ...not

If you miss the films gross by 40 mill to 60 M..." you lose 5000 points.

It also says "

For every 20 million you miss after the first 40 million, you will lose 1000 points per 20 million.

Shouldn't it be, "For every 20 million you miss after 60 million, you will lose 1000 points per 20 million."?

So who is doing what exactly with the top 12s, etc.? I'm a bit lost. Just wondering because I want to make sure I'm not double tabulating something for the "Triple Crown" race that I charted last year. I was keeping tracking of pretty much all scoring facets of the game, but if someone else is doing any of them it would certainly be a big help.

Yes, I'll fix it....thanks kayumanggi.

Damn it B. I'll have to change my excel codes again. :(

I am making an excel template for B to calculate the top 12 scores so that he doesn't have to overwork and worry about errors. I also proposed running a top 12 thread in the BSG forum. Decision still pending.
