I’m also impressed at how strong GLC late legs are. Maybe Endless Entertainment pulls a Spectre style fudge for $300M.

As for Splatoon, pleasantly surprised, and while not an official Endless Animation film, does show that potentially Endless has become a known name in the family entertainment game. Whether $200M happens or not will depend on how hard OPM hits it but $180M-$190M is achievable. But it being stronger than the GameVerse movies bodes well for Mario.

Personally I am curious on how Sylvarius, Fantasia and TUSG as critically they are all on the same level.

July 2-4: ‘One Punch Man’ obliterates the 4th of July, ‘Up The Butt’ gets blue balled

Thanks to low competition and a starvation of big 4 quadrant blockbusters, ‘One Punch Man’ certainly left a crater of impact in its opening 5 days. Marking Lager Pictures’ first blockbuster venture outside of The Odyssey trilogy, the superhero anime adaptation lit up the box office with $139 million for its 5 day opening and $79.2 million for its 3 day weekend. Despite mixed-to-positive reviews, audiences seemed to dig the action blockbuster, giving the film an A-. Meanwhile, this weekend’s other major opener, the erotic action film ‘Up The Butt’, got blue balled by audiences, leaving the film with a measly $3 million and receiving the rare F cinemascore. Expect this one to be flipped out of the Top 10 by next weekend. Elsewhere, the New Journey Pictures Classics’ documentary Calendars got off to a solid start in its platform release with $154k.

1. One Punch Man - $79,194,014/$138,998,810 (1st week)

July 16-18: ‘Scooby’ lights up the mid- summer drought

Boasting a unique and outlandish take on the iconic 50 year old cartoon (that’s still somehow going), ‘Scooby-Doo: Apocalypse’ managed to bring in over $71 million for the weekend. The superhero film earned an A- audience score and should definitely hold well for weeks to come. The Antoine Fuqua action film ‘Conventional Wisdom’ earned $23.2 million this weekend, enough for a second place finish. The film received mixed reviews from critics and lukewarm reception from audiences who gave the film a B. Despite coming in third place, ‘The Rich and Famous’ made solid bank this weekend and should hold up well for the following weeks. The film earned an A from those who saw it.

Damn scoobys got bad word of mouth 😔

It dropped 51% on week 2 and 48% on week 3 against three openers. Weekend drops are usually worse in the middle of summer because weekdays are stronger so I'd say that's pretty good.
