UKBoxOffice
If this Easter weekend follows previous trends then today will be flat or down slightly, Sunday down a lot, and then Monday the best day of the 4. I should think it is quite weather dependent as well though.

Yes. but who wants to get up and take the kids to the cinema when they've already had 1 hour less sleep than usual? It’s a bank holiday weekend though, so it won’t be missed as much as usual. It won’t have any impact whatsoever.

Naturally it's still all to play from today but ended up being a pretty rough weekend except for Dune.
themadagascarmaster
How is Kung Fu Panda 4’s opening weekend in the UK compared to the first three’s if you don’t mind me asking? Edited April 1 by themadagascarmaster
Allanheimer
54 minutes ago, themadagascarmaster said: How is Kung Fu Panda 4’s opening weekend in the UK compared to the first three’s if you don’t mind me asking? Kung Fu Panda - £6.1m Kung Fu Panda 2 - £6.2m Kung Fu Panda 3 - £4.8m So it's the second-lowesting opening in the franchise, but it's also the only one tactically dropped at the start of a holiday period. The first opened three weeks before summer holidays, the third 2 weeks before Easter and the second didn't drop until right after the May half-term. Now...KFP3 had previews on the preceding weekend so it actually only did £3.2m on its "initial" FSS and £1.6m in previews. The same goes for the previous two films, so here's the numbers for all four films' official first FSS. Kung Fu Panda: £3.11m Kung Fu Panda 2: £3.07m Kung Fu Panda 3: £3.18m Kung Fu Panda 4: £3.9m Edited April 1 by Allanheimer Incomplete information
UKBoxOffice
Bit hard to compare due to different opening patterns etc, but here you go. Kung Fu Panda (late-June opening, 3 weeks before holidays) Preview Weekend Saturday £862k Sunday £827k Opening Weekend Friday £756k Saturday £1.86m Sunday £1.76m Total = £4.38m Total opening including Previews = £6.07m Lifetime Gross = £20.15m Kung Fu Panda 2 (mid-June opening, 1 month before holidays) Wednesday 770k Thursday £527k Friday £413k Saturday £549k Sunday £751k 5 Day Opening Weekend = £3.01m Lifetime gross = £16.92m Kung Fu Panda 3 (mid-March opening, two weeks before holidays) Preview Weekend Saturday £850k Sunday £734k Opening Weekend Friday £431k Saturday £1.60m Sunday £1.14m Total = £3.17m Total opening including previews = £4.75m Lifetime gross = £14.28m I should think number 4 will probably become the top grossing entry of the series, although it's obviously been helped a lot by inflation since the original film. 2

The first opened three weeks before summer holidays, the third 2 weeks before Easter and the second didn't drop until right after the May half-term so it didn't benefit at all. I also think some of these had previews on preceding weekends so it might fudge the numbers a bit more. just looked at the discrepancy in our Kung Fu Panda 2 figures and it had a very strange release. The £6.2m figure is actually a 9 day opening - opening on a Wednesday until Monday but then skipping the following Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday - and coming back from Friday. Weird. Yeah we must have been figuring that out at the same time because I've edited mine now to reflect the release strategy of all three films lol Bottom line...fairly useless comparisons
