The fact that even the boutique chains are booking Barbie is quite a big deal.

Best overall weekend since GOTG3. £6.3m pure OW is really good, it didn't do badly during the week but I think most people waited until the weekend. Does make me wonder how it would have done on a purely three day opening though. Elemental doing great guns, does prove Disney's decision to hold back the UK by a few weeks was a good one. Indiana Jones fared okay considering Mission Impossible is direct competition.
SchumacherFTW
This Weekend feels like it's going to be one of the best for cinemas in a loooooong time. Oppenheimer is crazy here in London, Barbie is crazy everywhere, Mission Impossible is doing great, Elemental is looking strong, this will set the cinemas up for a great summer holiday. Love it!

Krissykins
Little Mermaid also #6 in its 9th weekend, passing Dumbo, £26.5m total.
Jonwo
I find it amusing that Ruby Gillman was flat out rejected everywhere. In a more family starved year, it would have done better but clearly families have lots of choice.

Crazy that Ruby Gillman is the sacrificial lamb Universal had to kill for Nolan's Oppenheimer demands.

I always had a feeling it would leg out, though I always expected 30m. Still, considering the doom and gloom on opening weekend it's respectable.
Heretic
Barbie pre sales are looking insane everywhere. It’s going to be absolutely huge. £15m+ opening weekend I’m thinking, and wouldn’t be surprised if it was higher. IMAX/PLF sales for Oppenheimer are also some of the craziest I’ve seen. BFI IMAX/Odeon Leicester Square sales are just nuts. Surely at least £6-7m opening. Legs will be very long on this one given the limited capacity for premium screens. One of the biggest and most exciting weekends coming up for sure!
Jonwo
I think Oppenheimer's run time probably will cap its OW a bit, it has a lot less screens than a Nolan film normally would due to Barbie.

I had a look at Saturday as well, it’s busy. It’s definitely busier in the evening and at night both days. So I wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t have a huge family film style Saturday bump on its first weekend. 8 sell outs at my local on Friday for Barbie now. Eight! And there are another two or three that are close to it. The daytime showings have really filled out now.
