Porthos
SPOILERS Spoiler "Good Soldiers" however, was decidedly less pleasing to me...
Porthos
That was fun. Ominous at times, but also fun. Show is starting to pick up steam now. 👍
4815162342
Not too surprising an appearance. And the end definitely sets up the Batch eventually getting a more official job
Fullbuster
A good episode, not much happening but now the bad batch doesn't seem lost anymore, they're starting to figure out what they should do and that's good: we're going somewhere.
Darth Lehnsherr
Spoiler Well the appearance of Rafa and Trace certainly wasn't what I had in mind after seeing the episode title. Pretty solid episode obviously who Rafa and Trace works for will be something picked up later and I enjoy that this show isn't about random missions and there is a progression on what the Bad Batch actually does with their skills. I wonder how long have they resisted making that Echo joke...
Menor the Destroyer
Much better than the last two weeks. A lot more turns and surprises in the action and narrative. I'm glad that we aren't just settling into a mission-of-the-week show (nothing wrong with those, but I think Bad Batch is stronger in a different format). Spoiler Fun to see Trace and Rafa again. I really liked their role in this episode. Great "activate the droids!" moment, and that was the perfect way to bring that situation to a close. Loved the beginning with Omega learning how to shoot the bow. I also liked that Echo now is showing his mentoring side. The factory in general was a nice setting and well-animated. "Good soldiers follow orders" got even more ominous this week. Hopefully they don't drag it out too long. I guess Trace and Rafa were talking to Ahsoka. It would make the most sense since she knows them.

I find it interesting, actually, that is following a different template than both TCW and Rebels. Not even sure I can call it a hybrid of the two, though it's something I need to think about a bit more. Still is similar to the back half of Rebels, but even here there's something different about this show's storytelling style that I can't quite put my finger on. I think one thing that this episode was immeasurably helped by was the lack of a b-plot. Having one storyline to follow allowed it time to breathe. Sure, an a-plot and b-plot can work, see in reference the episode with Crosshair. But sometimes I think there isn't enough time to properly develop both plots. The episode a couple of weeks ago suffered a bit in this regard with the split plot between the "fix the ship" and "get supplies" storylines. Quote Hide contents "Good soldiers follow orders" got even more ominous this week. Hopefully they don't drag it out too long. Spoiler Yeah, I dunno how long it's gonna take. Seems like a good, natural pace so far, so I ain't complaining. The show doesn't a have a mid-season break, but I could see it being addressed then. You know, so there can be a mid-season trailer and other mid-season catch up media articles. Though that sort of thinking might be a relic of broadcast TV thinking, so perhaps not. Quote Spoiler I guess Trace and Rafa were talking to Ahsoka. While Rex is something of another popular guess, the robes don't really seem to work. Could be Bail Organa, which seems to be the most popular guess out there after folks wishcasting for Rex. ... Could also be Maul, you know. Rafa does seem to the type to fall into the more seedy end of folks ticked off at this new emergent Empire. I find it refreshing in a weird way that this show is pretty traditional in its story telling. While I totally understand filler complaints I really do miss shows having longer seasons and it makes rewatchability much better IMO. Though I'm happy there is no mid season break.

There are a lot more things being set up long-term than any other SW show. Every episode except last week's has introduced some new plot thread. And even last week introduced Cid who looks to be a long term player in the season, so I would include that as a new plot thread as well.

Fullbuster
I'm not a big fan of the show having 16 episodes as I really like most shows having 6-10 eps per season, 12 should be the max...having less means more focus on the main plot, more budget for each ep. My hope is that they're planning this to have multiple seasons and have 16 eps just in order to set things up for the long run, allowing following seasons to have a more limited number of eps. Beyond that I appreciate to have a SW series where Jedi aren't the focus because it's a very rich, complex world that can do so much more, and proving you can do a lot even without the Jedi. The growth of Omega is interesting, I feel like she'll be a completely different person once The Bad Batch is done and will become fan favorite like Ahsoka, with an inevitable appearance in live action SW. Porthos
not kidding spoiler Spoiler Ya know. Maaaaaybe talking about Order 66 and saving Jedi and letting Padawans escape in front of the dude whose chip was acting up and getting more squirrely by the moment wasn't the brightest of ideas. Porthos
That was really really good. Tight plotting. Great characterization. And still had the quiet moments that let the episode breathe. Best of the series so far.
Darth Lehnsherr
These past two episodes have been pretty great Spoiler Kinda wish now they didn't reveal Rex in the trailer but great to see him in a more supporting role as I was worried his presence would take over the whole story but thankfully was still focused on the Bad Batch and Omega. Wrecker and Omega's relationship is just the best. Lovely to see Bracca in it's full Clone Wars style glory. Glad we're staying here for at least another episode as I like it when they use a location for more than one offs. Glad no sign of Cal Kestis. The music in this episode was particularly great showcasing a more horror vibe. Definitely an evolution from what Kiner was doing in S7. Really hope we see more of Crosshair and the Empire soon but glad as well that most of the footage in the trailer has been seen so no idea what to expect in the next 9 episodes.
Fullbuster
Good episode and glad they didn't keep the Spoiler chip stuff for the finale, now the future is uncertain and that's not a bad thing! I guess Crosshair will show up next week. Edited June 11, 2021 by Fullbuster
Inceptionzq
Who knew the Bad Batch could make me feel like that? I love Omega and her relationship with Wrecker so much
