Comps (both counted on Thursday for Friday): Belle (1.6M OW) had 83 sold tickets in 7 theaters

and My Hero Academia (6.3M OW) had 565 sold tickets in 6 theaters (= vs 1.500 sold tickets for Jujutsu Kaisen in the same 6 theaters) = x2.65 = 16.7M.
That sounds almost too good to be true and of course I don't expect many walk-ups. The jump was a bit small today too and in some regions it seems that it has reached its limit. OTOH my two comps are already kind of a worst-case-scenario. And it looks good for this movie in many other reports here too. Plus the presales number is really fine, e.g. better than that of Uncharted. So I just hope for 15M OW.

 

Umma had today for Friday in 4 theaters 53 sold tickets (up 18%).
Comps (all counted on Thursday for Friday): The Night House (2.9M OW) had in the same 4 theaters 73 sold tickets,

Malignant (5.4M OW) had in the same 4 theaters 154 sold tickets

and Antlers (4.3M OW) had in the same 4 theaters 89 sold tickets.
2M OW would be my guess.

And X had today in 7 theaters 316 sold tickets for today (up 47.5%).

Comp: The Forever Purge (12.6M OW) had also on Thursday for Thursday 241 sold tickets = x1.34 = 1.7M from previews for X.

That's as yesterday a surprisingly good number but I also think that it will have way less walk-ups than The Forever Purge, so maybe the half of 1.7M which would be 0.85M from previews. A 5M OW seems doable IMO.

I really don't have any good comps for this. Like, at all.  Some weird hybrid of F9 and Ghostbusters: Afterlife might be the closest I actually currently have, but even that is gar-bage.

 

I keep going back to Detective Pikachu though.  Such a shame that 2019 numbers are worse than useless right now for comping (at least locally), coz it looks like Sonic is doing very well against it.  It's nearly caught up with Pika Pika, and that was on sale for five days longer than Sonic has been at this point in time. 

 

Not saying anything yet. Just going, "Hmmmmm....."
