I am thinking 4-4.5M and 40M OW. I am expecting the movie to get decent reviews (better than ANTM3). If they are poor then an opening around Marlowe (joking....).

The opening weekend of Shazam was 6.16 times previews , Shazam's previews began at 4 pm ,versus the usual 7 pm, so I don’t think Shazam 2 can be higher than 6.5 times previews with the same season and length.

Previews from the Thursday night (starting at 4pm) were 5.9M. The other 3.3M were in some sort of fan day on March 23 before the opening on April 4.

So a pretty decent multiplier from 4pm shows for the opening weekend.

Movies that open with small previews have much better chance of having good IM as opposed to say mega openers like MCU. 6x is definitely not the base. Question is how its received. Let us wait for reactions week after next before we hone in on the number. I agree with current tracking for now(35-40m).

Thank u, now I know that opening weekend of Shazam is 9.03 times of thursday previews. But I think 9.03 times is extraordinary, the fandango divert a part dc fans, now the previews style change , and Shazam 2 is a sequel, so I don’t think Shazam 2  can high than 8 times previews.

I would say very good overall.

Is 6M to much to expect? (for all the early shows and previews together)

I'd say so personally. In Philly, a new Rocky movie is basically Christmas, so this is overindexing like crazy. But 4M+ or 5M+ feels like it could happen, and is super impressive considering the lack of Stallone.

FWIW, I've been taking some quick glances off and on here in Sacto (including just now) and I'd agree with 4-5 at the moment. Prob somewhere between 3.75 and 5.25 would be my ass-pull guess and not rigorous analysis (never mind dark magic shenanigans).

I know I said I wasn't going to update this thread until Thursday, but I decided there were enough sales to warrant an update.

Next update will be on Thursday, as planned.

(meant to post this with the Scream update, but got distracted by something else)

I'm not saying it implies anything either way, but if the reactions come out positive it's probably a mistake to not have them earlier. They really, really, really need some some sort of positive buzz to come out for this one, cause it really doesnt have anything going for it right now.
