Mr Roark
It’s been confirmed that Lionsgate made a deal to release the film officially in Russia, yes. Shame Disney didn’t released A2. It would’ve crossed $2.4B with Russia. I think big studios like Disney, Universal etc etc will keep their ban tho… Edited March 26, 2023 by Mr Roark

juni78ukr
I believe no one planned such long boycott. A couple of months at most. No one expected the Ukrainian affair would last for more than year with no end in sight. Some people say that Hollywood did not want it at all. That Hollywood was pressed by the government really hard. In such case they thought that a month or two will not be a big deal. People actually believed that in early May all studios will be back. It happened so fast and was totally unexpected and unreasonable. Disney was first and basically others had to follow. Batman's release was cancelled a day before premiere. Many theaters already got their copies. And after such rash decision there is no way out. Losing millions every month is terrible but bad publicity will be a lot worse. In last 12 months at least 50 independent american movies were released in Russia. But nothing from five majors.
