The previous X-Men movies weren't very successful, all of them below $10m. The market is bigger now and The Avengers democratized superhero movies in 2012 so they're more successful and have their fans. I can't see better reasons. Some people already saw it on torrents thanks to 6 weeks delay. Also such late premiere created rush factor in first days of release. Not sure if DM2 is holding strong or Planes doing worse than expected. Probably both. Percy Jackson is also holding better than expected. Mortal Instruments not so much.
