Dilusha Bandara
Not likely. Everything is pretty much in line with Rentrak numbers. With $1.03 mln Thursday it needed really strong weekend multiplyer to reach 23m on Sunday. I don't think 35M total is impossible.
juni78ukr
Almost all recent big animated movies dropped less than 50% on week 2. Madagascar 3 dropped last year by 36%, Ice Age 4 by 46%. And they had strong summer daylies for many weeks. I was always thinking between 2.5 and 2.75 multiplyer. So between 30 and 33m total. It can pass Life of Pi, and not far from FF6, it's really a good performance
Fullbuster
By the way, about comedies, how famous Jim Carrey is in Russia? Do you think Dumb & Dumber 2 can succeed next year? The first one was released in 1994, Russia was a very small market and its population was very poor so I really don't know.

He was very popular back in 90-s but I guess the new generation doesnt care much about him. By the way in 1993-1994 the most successful movie in Russia was Beethoven 2. Only $396k gross but 1.98 mln tickets. You can see how strong inflation was in early 90-s.

Fullbuster
It's not a really big number with 1910 screens. Can we expect a real improvement of Kick Ass 2 over the first one?
juni78ukr
Can we expect a real improvement of Kick Ass 2 over the first one? Probably not, though those fanboys films are always hard to predict. Here in Ukraine it was released last week and made only mediocre 96k on 89 screens. Russian dubbed versions usually do not use much profanity. It's not like it's banned here. Just considered inaproppriate and kind of a bad taste. But for first Kick Ass movie our distributor made two different dubbed version. First one was tamed. But the second one was simply outrageous for our standards. And the russian title caused a lot of controversy.

It's interesting that there would be a problem in Russia with cursing, the Russians I know curse much more than anyone else I've met. Fullbuster
It's interesting that there would be a problem in Russia with cursing, the Russians I know curse much more than anyone else I've met. It's more a political issue given the country become more nationalistic/conservative under Putin. They even try to ban cursing on social networks like Vkontakt.
